LIBRARY WELCOMES NATIONAL BOOK AWARD WINNER & AWARD WINNING SERVICE DOG
WHO: Wicomico Public Library
WHAT: Wicomico Public Library invites New York Times bestselling author of the book and soon to be major motion picture, Until Tuesday: A Wounded Warrior and the Golden Retriever Who Saved Him, Luis Montalván, and his best friend and service dog, Tuesday this Friday, June 20th at 6:00 p.m.
Captain Montalván joined the army in 1990 and after 17 years of military service for which he earned two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal for Valor and the Combat Action Badge, he honorably departed from the U.S. Army in September 2007. Montalván is a graduate student at Columbia University currently working on a second Master of Science degree in Narrative Medicine.
Montalván also recently published the children’s book, Tuesday Tucks Me In: The Loyal Bond Between a Soldier and His Service Dog. Tuesday received the 2013 American Kennel Club Humane Fund Award for Canine Excellence and travels with Montalván as he tells their story.
