The teen who has been a ward of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts since February 2013 has been allowed to spent Father's Day at home with her parents.
Justina Pelletier's simple barbeque on Sunday with Lou and Linda Pelletier marks the beginning of the end of her 16 months in state custody. Social workers say they are preparing to return her to her parents' care after a lengthy legal battle.
Despite what state social workers say was 'progress' by the Connecticut parents, Mr and Mrs Pelletier say their opinion about their daughter's diagnosis - the issue that led to them losing custody - has not changed, the Boston Globe reports.
