WASHINGTON -- Earlier this week, WTOP confirmed Politico's report that the Washington Redskins had hired K Street lobbying firm McGuireWoods Consulting in late May to help defend them in their fight over the team's name.
Now comes the news that the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation will air a minute-long spot in seven major markets during Tuesday night's NBA Finals Game 3 calling on the Redskins to change their name. A full, two-minute version of the ad can be seen below.

WOW.. the idiots are relentless.
This commercial basically tries to blame the Washington Redskins for all of the hardships that Native Americans have endured since the day the Pilgrims landed here. The Redskins have been around for 80 years, but all of a sudden it's hurtful and racist? I'm glad that no other issues are more important than this.
you all let them do this crap and you wont make ads that say this is crap so what do you expect?
Redskin Potatoes !!
Potatoes should be the new mascot.
They can keep the name Washington Redskins, just put a potato over the current symbol.
1:38 ha ha ha brilliant.
Potato's are racist.
Did any of you actually watch the piece? It's very well done and says all that needs to be said. The name must go.
2:08 keep the name, they have their casinos
Why are they not saying anything about the Cleveland Indian baseball team with big teeth showing on their shoulder patch.
2:08.. really. I am so sick of you 2 faced people pushing political correctness... There is nothing wrong with the name..
1:01 really. You want us to spend good money to make a commercial combatting an idiot.. sorry I have better things to do with my money.
catholics will sue because the arizona cardinal name is offensive to them. tuna will sue the miami dolphins because of the anguish it causes them. gold-diggin women are offended by the sf 49ers (in more ways than one). and gays are offended by the green bay packers.
im offended by 208pm. can we change him/her too?
Those of you that see nothing wrong with the name, ask yourself this:
Say you were invited to a wedding reception and the bride and groom were American Indians, and the entire wedding party were predominately that ethnic group.
Would you be comfortable going up to your hosts and saying "You Redskins really put on a beautiful party."
3:53 Before, or after, they're all drunk and gambling?
Nothing wrong with the name... just a small group tugging at heart strings, just like the anti-gun lobby, the vegan lobby, etc. It's all a bunch of crap, and means nothing.
The REDSKINS are playing nice, setting up funds and programs for American Indians... if I were the owner, I'd tell them to pound sand and stfu. They don't need any more handouts.
3:53.. I myself would probably just say " You really put on a great party, Thanks for the invite" & then I would probaly even offer to buy them a drink. Why do we have to put a title on anyone?
It's all about race baiting! It's just the "baiters" that are involved here. A very small group who loves to repeat the "redskins" name in a negative light for their own agenda. It's probably less than 50 people in the USA, really. Crap stirrers is all they are.
353, ask yourself this: Have you ever asked a true American Indian of any tribe, and I mean of true genetic lineage, his or her thoughts on the subject?
So, please post his/ her response here.
Have about had my fill of the Indian name crap.
No school, college, university or pro team selected an Indian name to denigrate. They did so in eras when Indians had not yet discovered tribal wealth, either.
My opinion has shifted. Drop all the names voluntarily and we can entirely forget about them and they can revert to complete obscurity again.
As someone who enjoys history that will be a sad ending but it will be a self inflicted wound for them.
Go Banana Slugs! Onward Fighting Salamanders! Hold that line Goldfinches! Here's to the Potatoes!
5:01: You missed the point.
No, 126, 501 gets it. You are the race baiter here.
6:42 & 5:01:
HERE'S the point that 3:53 seems to be making:
Would you be comfortable referring to American Indians as "Redskins" in any situation?
"Would you be comfortable referring to American Indians as "Redskins" in any situation?"
Are you so freaking stupid that you are unable to distinguish between an ethnic group and a football team?
1:37:
Go ahead and refer to any American Indian as a "redskin", and then explain (better be quickly) that you're just referring to the football team.
Then let's see who is stupid. Probably the guy with the foot up his....
Maybe he calls you a "ignorant redneck", but explains he really didn't mean anything by it.
You OK with that?
