Does this count as experience?

No. It counts as a corrupt judge and favoritism for the elite. The police (and that trooper is NOT a very good example of integrity, either).
The police cannot conduct "campaigns" against the common folk and rail against the dangers of this 'crime', fine and punish "we, the people" like we are escaped felons, but let our slimy leaders off the hook.
It either very dangerous or not. For ALL of us.

another above the law politician

Do as I say, not as I do. I'm a judge!

What am I missing about corruptness? He was charged, pled guilty, paid a fine. Fines are usually handed out based on # of various offenses. If first offense, I would expect the fine to be low.

Seriously?? You idiots think this matters? You're all living in your own bubble of misery. Get a life

They let the "slimy" leader off in his 2008 Toyota. Let's consider the magnitude of this offense as compared to other politcal leaders. He was on his cell phone while driving. Yes, it is against the law. Should he not be allowed to be Judge because of this? I disagree with almost every Political view of the Sarbanes family, but I know Jimmy is a good guy, a family man. This is just someone trying to pull up dirt. I'm not in the County anymore and probably wouldn't vote for him. But at least don't try to grasp at straws. Address the issues.

Like there isn't one of you that doesn't use their phone once in a while when you are driving. If this were corruption, he would never have gotten a ticket. You people are seriously impaired.

Mr. Albero:
Contrary to the Maryland State Bar Association, in light of 40 years as a courtroom lawyer, I believe judges should have to run for election every 4 years; not 15 years. Then there would be an effective control of their behavior and power.
However, I am very disappointed in the tenor of the this particular election.
Personal attacks, on a candidate and his family, which seem to be a regular feature of your blog, are sordid.
Jimmy Sarbanes paid the preset $83 fine, and got the license points, for talking on a cellphone, while driving.
So what?
If he wanted to use his influence, he could easily have gotten such a minor charge dismissed. Instead, he paid the fine and got the points. In other words, he doesn't think he is above the law.
Sincerely,
Lee Clarke

@ 1:38...

What are you talking about? He pled guilty and was found guilty.

Anonymous said...

He flagrantly broke a law. That is the point and it should matter or at least it does to those of us who have high standards and expect those in professional positions to conduct themselves like adults and not children attempting to get away with something.

Anonymous said...

I don't 2:16. I didn't even before it was against the law.

Had he been appointed judge at the time of the violation? At the time he pled guilty?

Appointment should not have been made but what was the timeline?

Anonymous said...

I'll bet the officer that pulled him over was on his phone when he saw Sarbanes! Hung up and turned on his lights!

Has anyone on here seen a cop driving recently that was NOT on the phone????

The corruption is in all the other cases that were thrown out in Spyros' favor. Like the foreclosure on the house he didn't pay for. Also like the boob job his wife got that went to collections for judgment and the case was dismissed. This minor case was the only one he was found guilty on and didn't have to pay.

I wish I didn't have to pay my bills and had judge friends to help me out.

Dear Counselor Lee Clarke --

Do you really think that Sarbanes would be dumb enough to try to intimidate or influence that cop (or worse) and run the risk of it "going public"?

And the tenor of the campaign is the result of O'Malley's absurd appointment of him rather than MJ Caldwell, the clearly more qualified candidate. He and others have simple pointed out his greater experience and the Sarbanes connection to the Democrat party and O'Malley, as well as the money his relatives have paid to finance his campaign and his history as a defendant in Court -- all of which are highly relevant.

On the other hand Sarbanes or his supporters have tried to smear Caldwell.

Every time I see a cop they are on their phone and not a hands free one at that, I guess the law don't apply to them, never has

It will change after they have an accident and seriously injury someone, maybe?
