Taking a Toll: Administration Wants To Let States Charge On Interstate Highways

Ever driven down I-95 in Maryland, or the New Jersey Turnpike, and parted ways with $10, $20 in tolls?

If the Obama administration has its way, highways across the country could someday be that way.

In a major shift for how governments fund transportation projects, the administration wants to let states charge tolls on interstate highways. A federal ban currently bars states from doing so in most places, but the latest White House push could change that.

You all Free-Loaders place this idiot in the White House....How's it feel now that he is hitting your Welfare Check Pocket-Books?

Sure, the economy doesn't stink enough. Let's steal money out of anybody's pocket that can still afford to have a car or has to drive OTR for a living. Let's add shipping costs to every commodity in America! Hey, I know! Let's put toll stations up on the railroad tracks, too!

Watch for the toll booth at the end of our driveway.

What will end up happening is roads less 'tolled' will be used more to avoid the exorbitant tolls placed by the states.

Maryland's roads will become ghost-lanes as nobody will use them...the tolls will go up weekly to make up for the lost revenue!

The voting morons have elected and reelected the governing and legislating morons.

No need to get your panties in a knot, It will take an act of Congress to allow this to happen. The party controlling the House are in no mood to pass such an act.

8:26 - considering that the president has already bypassed congress with executive orders, they may be able to do this without the vote you're referring to!

Go play in your sand box John. You have no idea what you are talking about. I bet you don't even get out to vote because you know it does no good.
