Survey: Maryland Oyster Population Makes Gains

A survey has found Maryland's oyster population has more than doubled since 2010.

Maryland's 2013 Fall Oyster Survey was released Wednesday by the Department of Natural Resources.

The survey says the oyster population is at its highest point since this type of monitoring began in 1985.

The increase is being attributed to high oyster survival over the past few years and strong reproduction in 2010 and 2012.

I don't believe a word of this , I live in an area that used to harvest 1000 bushels a day.
Nanticoke Md. , talk to these watermen , this is BS.

Wasn't the outlook so dismal last week they were finding it necessary to dump tons of Florida crap onto the mud the crabs were under causing the watermen to protest and blockade???

Are our government agencies having trouble finding their butts with both hands?

WTF?

If this is the case then why is the Chesapeake Bay Foundation claiming we need to sign a petition to keep the bay clean?

Watermen know the Bay, Politicians and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation only know how to rape it and make money off it.

Truth.

1000 bushels a day in the 70's might be why there aren't any around today.
