Just so you can feel like you accomplished something everyday by writing the same stupid comment over and over

60 paid professional, in their own opinions, paid fireman that put out what 6 or 8 house/small commercial fires a year? That has to work out to like $1,000,000.00 per fire give me a break Ocean City has what a 1/3 the population year round a gizillion more $$$ in property exposure and they do it all with 95% vol. staffing? Jim Ireton is more active with doing his thing in the city to simpleton residents than he ever has been in Reblobeth!

Just so you can feel like you accomplished something by attempting to justify your unneeded job over and over again. Get a real job.

You are correct. It's time to recruit and retain more volunteers and get rid of the paid firemen, starting with the 12 just hired under that grant.

A childish, immature, volunteer hating paid fireman.

To all who are reading this is exactly what you are paying for. Trolls who stalk this blog to attack volunteers in order to protect their paid jobs.

Joe look at this scare tactic posted on the Fat Guys blog. I doubt this was written by some paid Farmin's mommy but wouldn't be surprised. This person knows just a little bit to much to be anything but a paid firemen. It is nothing but lies and scare tactics. It's also an attack on the Salisbury police department and their heroes. Please post this so that the public can see what dirt tricks Rick Hoppes will use to turn the public on the council.

Comment Worthy A Post On Salisbury Fire Department Budget

I hope they realize exactly what has been done. Its great that they have "found" a way to pay for more police officers. But to not fund any new positions for the fire department is going to create a volatile situation for the citizens of this city in regards to fire/ems services. My son works for the department and if the city does not get a renewal on the grant for the positions then they will have to yet again close the one of the two stations during the daytime hours. It will also force them to shut down one ambulance, period!!! There have been countless times that I have been listening to the scanner and a fourth or fifth call for ems units goes out. I inquired how they "fill" the extra unit(s). He said they shut down the fire crew and have them run the ambulance call. That means that if there is a fire or other major event during this time you'll only have ONE piece of fire equipment coming. That's not enough if it is a real fire. How many times a year do you hear of the police saving a life? Very few. But I attended the medals day ceremony the last two years. And there are countless times the SFD has saved a life. Love them or hate them, these men and women are always there for you when you or a loved one need them. The city council is gambling with every life in the city with their lack of support for the fire department. And if your OK with allowing YOUR emergency to be handled at an extended time, then carry on. But I would bet my last dollar that the loss of these firefighters will have a greater negative effect on the citizens of this city, than thirty new police officers could generate positively. I would start the position myself, but I live on a "county" street in city limits. So I can't start a petition to urge the city council to make an amendment, but I can still enjoy my free fire protection, that the citizens of Salisbury cover for me with their tax dollars. Tell the council they have screwed up and your not going to stand quietly while they gamble with your safety. They need to keep at least enough to keep open the firehouse and that third ambulance.
