“Anything that renders the phone useless will hopefully deter people from stealing the phone anymore because there’s no point to having it if there’s a kill switch,” said Richard Kumapley.

wrong, it is for killing your phone when the shit hits the fan...
Like they did in libya, where as the shut off the internet with a kill switch but because twitter and FB are stationed in the USA they could not be shut down and that is how they communicated to revolt...
The US govt knows this, and this is why they want everything to be so called "smart" like your phones, utility meters and home appliances, it is all to track you and get all the data they can about you and if it gets to the point of worse meets worser, than they will use the cut off switch to make it so nothing you have can be used...
Trust me when I say this, next thing you know you will have smart water tanks or smart water faucets and just like with anything else, if you oppose the govt or say harsh things or whatever, wham-o no more water, or electric or phone or anything...
You think I am wrong? look at what is going on more and more today, CAN YOU SEE IT? I sure as hell can...
You tell me why all these govt agencies need guns and ammo? billions of them? why would noaa need guns and ammo? they are a weather service, What about OSHA, why do they need ammo and guns when they deal with workplace or construction safety? Why would the EPA who only make laws regarding the land use and quality?
So you can sit back and continue to think the govt won't harm you, well they have many ways... You can think the govt won't shoot at you when shit hits the fan if you want to but what about waco or ruby ridge or better yet and most importantly what about KENT STATE, WHAT ABOUT KENT STATE? DO ANY OF YOU REMEMBER? where college kids were shot by the govt troops for throwing rocks...

They dont teach the kent state massacre anymore. I am 42 and I remember reading about it in american history and my parents freely told us what happened that day.So sadly it is likely no one that reads this blog will understand the significance of that day in relation of what will happen in this country.
You can't put a kill switch on ham radio and you can talk to someone on the other side of the globe.
And no one thinks this can be used to oppress the public? Who controls this kill switch. I bet its not me the guy who owns the phone.
