Salisbury, Md. - Team Guerrero is proud to announce that Alexis Guerrero 10-0-1 has recently signed an agreement to partner himself with Champs Management, based in Hockessin, Delaware.
Champs Management is headed by the former IBC Super Middleweight Champion, Dave “TNT” Tiberi. Tiberi is famously remembered for the highly controversial decision in his fight against James “Lights Out” Toney in 1992 for the IBF Championship belt in Atlantic City. Immediately following, Tiberi left the ring on a mission to help clean up the sport he loved so much, working on legislation to make boxing both safer and more accountable.
In 2011, Tiberi, along with five prominent Delaware business partners, formed Champs Management. With the addition of Guerrero, Champs has five blue chip fighters in their stable, including four that hold NABF Championship belts, as well as one former WBO Champion in Lightweight, Cornelius Lock. Among Tiberi’s fighters is “The New” Ray Robinson, an amateur standout who is now ranked 10 in the world by the WBC, and poised for a world title shot.
Guerrero commented on his management deal with Champs saying, “This is what I have been waiting for. Now I can stop stressing about if I am going to fight or when and just focus on training. I’m very excited to be working with Dave and his group. They put fights on in Dover, but are able to do bigger things as well. The last time I fought in Dover a lot of people were able to come up and support me, so I am hoping they will be able do it again on May 9th.”
Guerrero, who is trained by Coach Hal Chernoff of the Main St. Gym spoke about working with Dave Tiberi and Champs Management. “Christmas came early this year,” said Chernoff. “Sometimes things just line up and now we need to move Alex the rest of the way up the ladder. Dave Tiberi has the right connections in the boxing world, and Champs is gaining lots of recognition in the boxing world as a quality management group that does things right. So to be able to work with such good people and to have them right up the road in Delaware is perfect for us.”
For now, Team Guerrero is thrilled to be fighting again at the Dover Downs Casino on Friday May 9th. Guerrero will face Kamarah Pasley, a tough Philadelphia fighter that will attempt to punch the O out of Guerrero’s 10-0 record.
Chernoff added, “This will be another great night of fights for Alex at the Dover Downs Hotel & Casino, close enough to home that the hour-long drive shouldn’t stop his fans from coming out to support him. And it’s not just about boxing, you can enjoy a complete night out with dinner at the casino, some great fights, and then fun trying to win some money at the craps table.”
This fight will feature seven different bouts. Doors will open at 6:00pm with the first bell going off at 7:00pm on Friday, May 9. Dover Downs Hotel & Casino is easily accessible from both SR-1 and Rt. 13 in Dover, Delaware. Tickets are available at http://www.doverdowns.com/entertainment/boxing and by phone at (800) 711-5882 or by calling Coach Hal Chernoff @ 410-430-6687 (prices range from $45-$200).
