Bill in House of Delegates Seeks To Link Gun, Criminal Registries

ANNAPOLIS — The House of Delegates is considering a bill that would link Maryland’s gun registry to its criminal database.

State law requires gun owners to surrender their weapons if they’re convicted of felonies or any violent crimes, but Del. Luiz Simmons, D-Montgomery, said Maryland State Police lack a systematic way of enforcing this. They can’t use their databases to identify gun owners convicted of crimes.

Simmons is chief sponsor of legislation to make that link.

State Police estimate that if they linked the databases, they would find 10 percent of registered gun owners — about 110,000 people — would be disqualified. They estimate a rate of 1 percent each year thereafter.

Well finally something that actually makes sense

So if I'm a felon, I just have to steal a gun to own it, or buy one somebody else stole. That way the police can't catch me!

If 10% of felons are dumb enough to register a gun, well, they deserve to get caught, but it sounds to me like a pretty big "IF"!

see there is your last step in confiscation for those who don't think it will happen...

they want to link it all so they know who you are to come get you and to take it from you...

oh and so doctors can say you're crazy or something and have you owning a gun revoked...

But like 300k residence of CT State, I say as they do, COME AND TAKE EM... We OUT NUMBER ANY OFFICIAL IN THE POLICE FORCE OR FEDERAL GOVT FORCES EVEN IF THEY WERE COMBINED, SO COME AND TAKE EM...

FYI corrupt cops: YOU ARE THE ONES GOING TO GET SHOT AND BE SHOT AT TO ENFORCE THESE UNCONSTITUTIONAL LAWS, NOT THE ONES WHO MADE OR VOTED FOR THE LAWS, SO THINK ON THAT REAL HARD...

YOU CAN HAVE A ARMORED TRUCK BUT YOU HAVE TO GET OUT SOMETIME AND THEN ITS ON...

Our founding fathers were 'felons'. It sure has reduced crime by targeting this group hasn't it?

At a cost of $300,000 per year estimated you think that make sense. Are you that much of an idiot? $300,000 is a lot of money and you wonder why Democrats can't balance a budget? Do you have any idea why there is so much poverty? Idiot like you think its ok to spend other peoples money. And you are allowed to vote!!

Registration means confiscation and now they are involving the State Police. When the orders come down you better hope our Brothers in Blue does not turn on his neighbors.

There is a Civil War brewing and it is because of the ignorant Democrats. Do you idiots realize what you have done to our country by voting for a Democrat? Wake up you idiots.

This Bill will cost the tax payers $300,000 to get started and then $1,000,000 a year to maintain. When the Hell will these Democrats learn to quit spending money.

Please, please, please Vote Republican.

This is something that could actually make sense, but go figure that they lack the capability to "link" their databases...

But then again, this only works for those who LEGALLY BOUGHT THEIR GUNS!! Come up with legally vs illegally owned gun crime statistics that support that this endeavor and I'll hope on board, until then I'll continue to go under the assumption that most criminals don't register their guns.
