The 2014 Session of the Maryland General Assembly enters its fifth week with hearings scheduled on bills to deal with the state's inheritance tax, the rights of transgender people, and the legal responsibility of dog owners.
Repealing Maryland's inheritance tax is a priority of House and Senate Republicans which they argue penalize middle class and wealthy Marylanders.
The House bill to repeal the tax will receive a hearing Tuesday in the House Ways and Means Committee. The Senate bill gets its hearing on Wednesday in the Budget and Taxation Committee.
