IF PRMC was to become a part of the JHH network it would be great but I am sure that the Board of Directors within the JHH system would do some serious cleanups with PRMC from the Board members to the housekeeping and valet persons. JHH has a reputation and it is stellar. While PRMC reminds me of a hospital with poor standards, poor morals, and over all lack of concern for anyone but themselves.
So I guess nobody really knows. Easton is part of the UM system and from what I've heard...its just like being in Baltimore. PRMC's issues haven't been with the majority of the staff...its with the Mgmt and then it flows downhill.
Johns Hopkins would have to clean house at prmc. Hopkins is no. 1 in the world right now. They couldn't afford to ruin their reputation. i go there, my primary doctor is at hopkins. it's a totally different world of medicine at hopkins. totally different mentality towards patient care. agressive treatment. i have 2 friends that their fmilies were told by this hospital to make arrangements as they were dying. luckily with some advice, the families got them in an ambulance to hopkins. both are still living. one had a heart transplant. here, prmc, they wrote him off as dead. but his family checked him out and got him to a real hospital..
12:35 I totally agree with you 100%. i also got to JHH for my health care needs. Yes I drive 2 and a half hours away just to get quality health care (which I am entitled to since I pay my own health insurance via my employer). It is worth the time and money spent to go there. Its my heath and my life depends on it. PRMC has no morals and with job cuts no one they are giving substandard care. I wish JHH would take of PRMC and rebuild it into a quality hospital.
Took my mom to Hopkins, Wilmer eye institute. Organized and thorough. Twice had mom at University of Maryland hospital, I really feel she would have died here at PRMC. The DR that did my mom's surgery gave us, not his beeper #, he gave us his home phone and cell #, she loved that guy.
For what it's worth, I've lived here my entire life of 58 years. I've had nothing but good experiences at PRMC. No be else's opinion will change that. The grass is always greener for some folks. If I, or another family member, had a medical emergency tonight I would be be more than comfortable taking them to PRMC. And no, I am not employed by, or otherwise receive anything from them.
7:36 or if you actually had a serious medical situation. Granted there are a numerber of great doctors and staff....but they are quickly being over shadowed by those that aren't. So many admin problems that have created "dark holes" where many patients just disspear. God forbid you have to stay thru the weekend.....you can die and not even be noticed. Everybody deserves better.
We have had wonderful experiences with PRMC. From my mother's death to my husband's several heart attacks and stents. You need to realize we are very lucky to have this hospital in our area. Friends of mine were diagnosed with cancer at Hopkins and were told to stay here for chemotherapy and subsequent treatments because of how good we are. Of course everyone is not as fortunate to have the great experiences we have and certainly a bad experience would make you biased
I took my dog, er wife to PRMC Peninsula Reptile & Mammal Clinic and we had to wait for 3 hours in the ER waiting area before we were seen, then wait another hour for a doctor. We watched many a nurse walk outside and go for a walk to puff cigarettes, when they were supposed to be working. This place is a dump, and should be closed down!
With the reqirements of the affordable health act there are many small hospitals that will not be able hire the additional staff to conform.Ask anyone involved in hospital administration.Small hospitals all over the country will close if not bought.

That would probably be a wonderful thing especially when you look at the reputation of Johns Hopkins versus PRMC!!
All I can say is they need help if this is true hopefully they will clean up the triage in the ER first.
They will have the same staff, just new ownership. Change is not always inevitable.
Probably more like the University of Maryland system like Cambridge, Easton, and Queenstown. This would give them the entire Eastern Shore.
This crap hole shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Hopkins. What a disgrace!
Maybe that's why they had to clean up their finances and ditch so many staff...to look good for the bean-counters.....
Agreed 8:25 AM but if, and that's a big IF, it happens it is still years away...

PRMC/JH together? What a let down for JH.
U of Md. They are already connected in patients rooms via cctv, computers, etc.
A welcome and much needed improvement.

Sounds like JHH is lowering their standards, or are they going to clean house of all the dead weight?
This rumor has been going around for 20 years and has never come to be. If this rumor does come true, then hopefully a reorganization will be done.

I thought PRMC was an animal clinic for as dirty as it is.
That is just wishful thinking. Hopkins is the best there is ...why would they want to come here?

If You Were Employed By Them Your Views Would Change IM Sure.....

I don't believe all you people realize what a great hospital PRMC is. A great hospital with great doctors.

Peninsula Reptile & Mammal Clinic, always wondered what PRMC stood for, this is great!
