My wife grew up right there where the film was made at the same time the film was made.
My wife would gladly trade today for that time, because they may have been poor by YOUR measure, but they were happy and proud.
This is why I never ever donate any money to any African charity, Charity begins at home! When each child here has all that they need, then and only then should anyone, or our government give any charity or help to foreigners!
They hate American's all over this world, yet we feed them and are the first to step up and send help to disasters, but they still hate us, it is time we stopped it all and started taking care of American's! American's First!!!

Wow ,I grew up under those conditions and so did my wife.
WE had a good childhood .
We never had food stamps or welfare , all of us worked , the children , the parents and everyone around us doing something make a dime.
