The more I read, the madder I get with this irresponsible over-grown juvenile.
I want to know what makes him think he is so special that he is above the law while the rest of us average citizens obey the law, follow the rules, and have respect for law enforcement? If we don't follow the speed limits and get a speeding ticket, we, as mature adults take the punichment by admitting to our mistake, pay the fine and strive never to do the same thing again. Most of us can't afford the extra cost to our insurance so we learn our lesson. This overgrown child doesn't learn from his mistakes because someone always fixes them for him so he takes no responsibility and no ownership. Hence, we have serving as council president a spoiled brat who thinks he is above anything bad he does because someone else will take care of it and fix it for him.
What a childish mentality. What poor leadership. What a poor spokesperson for Salisbury. What poor judgement. What poor ethics. What a poor example of a council president.
To the various police departments, and judges that let this slide and don't do anything to him, you are just as guilty as Day is. Jake Day needs to finally learn from his mistakes before he kills innocent children and adults.
His license should be removed from him for at least a year and he should not be allowed to drive any vehicle for any reason for that period of time. He should also spend more than a week-end in jail and made to attend driving classes until the year revoke license period is completed.
His cocky arrogant attitude needs adjustment which is long overdue.
He is a liability to the city and as a taxpayer when he causes personal injury accidents, I don't want my taxes covering his bad behavior. If the mayor were smart he would want to cut the citys' liabiltiy Jake Day has created for everyone one of us.

To me his actions are not the actions of a "spoiled brat." They are the actions of someone who was raised by parents who were neglectful and were irresponsible in their duties as parents.
I know "spoiled brats." Children who were flying the Concord by themselves at 12 years of age. Children who received $100,000 horses for Sweet 16 B-days. Children of 8 figure a year executives. None of these children grew up to be as irresponsible as Day has. It's not about being a spoiled brat. It's about lazy parents who didn't do a good job of raising him and now he has these character flaws.

While I do not know Jakes Parents all that well I can tell you first hand they are good people.
Now, you might be a bit jealous of their financial success, (as you clearly mention) but the money has nothing to do with it.
As far as their being good parents, you CANNOT control an adult. If you've ever raised a Son, they start feeling their oats certainly no later than 16 years old.
Some young adults, (if not most young males) tend to believe their way is the right way and parents at some point simply have to give up. Sure, the parents still love their child, as they should. But don't believe for a second the parents have no only tried their best to redirect their children for the better. in some cases, (such as this one) the younger adult believes they are invincible.
Perhaps it's from his military training and independence, I don't know. Perhaps its from being pushed into a very serious leadership position obviously too early in his young life, I don't know. The same might be said for Jim Ireton.
Jake is a decent guy. We have ALL seen people who have forgotten where they came from. Some times it takes hitting rock bottom to realize they need to get back on the right path. A good smack in the face with reality should do the trick for Jake. I agree with another comment that said he should receive the proper punishment for his illegal activity. It's a tough kind of love but it seems to be the only thing or only one Jake will finally listen to and hopefully respect.
in the mean time, if you get to know his Parents, they are very good people.
Let me close with this. If someone hasn't hurt you or offended you DIRECTLY, YOU should NEVER say anything bad about them. UNTIL it affects you personally, learn to keep your mouth shut. I can assure all of you, Jake's Parents have not hurt this anonymous commenter.
No one deserves to go to jail for Driving on Suspended License under those circumstances. It could happen to any of us.

These politicians always think because they get in power they think they are somehow above the law. And quite frankly he needs to resign from city council. He hasn't done anything great while he has been there anyway. Homosexual pansy mayor Ireton should go along with him. They should hold a special election we need new leadership in Salisbury.

His father came from a very simple religious family and totally disregarded them at every turn. They say money is the root of all evil and the Day family is proof positive. Its very sad that they let alcohol and money rule them since they all now have drinking problems. Its seems to me you have sympathy for a young man who has been in trouble multiple times and his parents bail him out each time. Very sad. He must be made to learn drom his mistakes and pay for them. I believe the military experience has failed him along with his parents in not making him realize the merit of honesty and being a law-abiding citizen. We are sad for Salisbury that they are so blind to see the truth of what they voted for. Mr. Day won because of all his family's wealthy friends buying votes. I hope he comes to realize, along with his parents, what an upstanding honest citizen is before its too late.
It's not just the suspended license offense -- he's a danger on the road, has been a multiple offender and should be punished accordingly before he really hurts others as a driver.

Suspended means suspended, it doesn't mean, oh I'll take a chance and do it anyway. Just suppose someone was killed that day by Jake when he was driving on that suspended license. Would that have been ok too, cause it could happen to any of us? I don't think so.
You are incorrect 12:19. Day dislays some sociopathic tendencies ie-speeding excessively thereby putting others in danger. He's lacking in conscience because others could get hurt and not just himself. (Different story if his actions could cause harm to only himself) People aren't born with a conscience. It is something that manifests itself due to parental (or other positive role model) guidance.

Yep 3:41 you are correct. Money has nothing to do with arrogance. As a matter of fact, quite a few who grow up arrogant, were raised to believe they were wealthy when in reality they really weren't and when they had to get out and work for a living they were struck hard with reality and that's their problem. The truly wealthy are more often than not the most humble.
Most people don't know who is in our midst right here locally. We have a 2 billion dollar heiress, a several 100 million dollar heiress and at least one 20million/yr CEO of a well known international corporation. All but the 2 bil heiress have grown children. They are the most responsible young adults you will ever meet. If you saw any of these people, you would never guess their immense wealth either. The 2 bil heiress never buys a new car because "Father always said let someone else take the depreciation."
None of this behavior by Jake Day should come as any surprise. Those of us who have been acquainted with him for a long time have seen first-hand his disregard for the law, his belief that rules don't apply to him, his treatment of women, co-workers, and so-called friends. There are also several Vanderbilt's in this area-CNN Anderson Cooper cousins. No one would ever guess they had net worths of a couple of hundred million either. The Vanderbilt family has had a hunting lodge in Somerset Co for many generations.

Lots of people get speeding tickets, and if you fail to pay and not show up to court to dispute the ticket your license gets suspended. There are some post on this blog that clearly shows lack of intelligent and commonsense. The complainers with out real foundation, that is the sad part of living in this area.
Funny, for a group of people that are so against speeding cameras because speeding is not a big deal, you all sure want the book thrown at this guy. Get a life people.

5:01-There is a huge difference so start using your head. A camera gives the vehicle the ticket with no proof whatsoever of who was driving it. If in fact, the registered owner wasn't driving at the time of the ticket, then the owner has the burden to prove, it wasn't them driving, thus turning the burden of proof on it's head which everyone knows except for you obviously, is the State's duty and not the accused.
No proud patriotic real American would ever think speed cameras are okay and that's a fact.

I don't know if it's factual or not, but maybe others do. Did Day dress in camo fatigues and propose at an airport as if he was returning from combat and film it or have it filmed for the internet? With family members who have served, the thought of this has disturbed me. His behavior on the campaign trail suggested recklessness. His traffic violations...driving while suspended suggest recklessness and disregard. Does anyone know if this is fact or fiction?

The whole point is being missed. The DMV suspends licenses for a reason. In Jake Day's case it is for "moving" violations which means he is a THREAT to himself as well as others sharing the road. The boy is DANGEROUS and should not be operating a vehicle PERIOD!!! There are programs out there for driver improvement. Most of them are a joke because what most repeat offenders need is PSYCHOLOGICAL improvement.

No he doesn't. He lives near Delmar and he is actually a leech to the tax payers of Salisbury. He is employed by the City and guess where he works? When not trolling on this blog he works at the fire department working hard on where the next meal will be found.

He continually breaks the law. As a representative of the city council he should have ethics and set a better example of maturity and leadership instead of an example on how to continually break the law and laugh about it.

Yep you said it 7:50-Jacob Day is exactly what is wrong with the shore, Salisbury in particular. Salisbury is infested with voters who have no sense of responsibility and low standards and these low standards are reflected in the individuals the voters elect.
Regardless of Jake Day, I'm sure the poster who made this hissy fit of a comment would throw a temper tantrum if the Police didn't let them slide on a speeding ticket.
7:59am I'm sure the poster would have more sense than throwing a fit when stopped by the police as opposed to Day who probably tries to peddle his influence and never learns from his many traffic violations. One acts maturely the other acts liked an entitiled spoiled child. He is a reckless endangerment to anyone on the roads.
