Why Firing A Bad Cop Is Damn Near Impossible

A brief history of the "law enforcement bill of rights"

Over the summer, a still from a surveillance camera showing a police officer kicking a handcuffed woman in the head went viral on Facebook and email. The text below the picture read, "Rhode Island police officer Edward Krawetz received no jail time for this brutal assault on this seated and handcuffed woman. Now he wants his job back. Share if you don't want this to happen." The allegation was wild enough to pique the interest of the rumor-debunking site Snopes.com, which determined that the story was, in fact, true.

In 2009, Officer Edward Krawetz of the Lincoln Police Department arrested Donna Levesque for unruly behavior at a casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island. While seated on the ground with her hands cuffed behind her, Levesque kicked Krawetz in the shin. Krawetz responded by cocking back his right leg and nailing Levesque in the side of the head, knocking her over. In March 2012, Krawetz was convicted of felony battery despite his claim that he kicked Levesque in "self defense." The 10-year sentence he received was immediately suspended, and Krawetz was ordered to attend anger management classes.

Would CITIZENS love to PICK who gets to "investigate" their crime? Have a "cooling off" period before police "interrogation" begins? Have their "interrogation" last only as long as they wanted, not the 3-4 or even 12-16 HOURS at a time (with bathroom breaks or refreshments not allowed) that CITIZENS must endure (even the INNOCENT ones). How about (this is unreal) being given THE NAMES, ADDRESSES, AND TESTIMONY of their accusers BEFORE they get "interrogated" (in quotation marks to designate the complete sham of police interrogating police), which would be a BIG help to regular citizens. And here's is the million dollar question --- how many OTHER officers WITNESSED the FELONY (not conjecture or opinion -- a CONVICTION) and said "I didn't see nuthin'"....saw another cop commit a FELONY and said "it's cool -- he's a brother cop" like they are positive the laws do not apply to them. I'm also positive that if anyone asked them if they ever saw another cop commit a felony they all would say, in unison, "oh no, never". Now. dispute the facts of what I say. Leave the name calling to arguments with your girlfriend (your wide will never know, right?). Self defense, my ass.

LEOBR applies to investigations of misconduct not criminal offenses. You're trying to compare employees being interrogated by their bosses to civilians being interrogated after committing crimes. If a Police Officer is being interrogated for committing a crime none of this applies and he/she is treated and has the same rights as you or I. Idiot.

are you jealous because you didn't get to spout your nonsense first? why don't you attack the message instead of the messenger? maybe because there is no defense for it? go back under ur rock.

Idiot, huh? The kicking of a handcuffed suspect is classified as "misconduct" by the police, NOT a crime. If he gets busted selling some coke he stole from a suspect, THAT'S a "crime", and he gets arrested, like you or me. BUT, in uniform, beating a suspect in handcuffs or body slamming an eighty year old woman to the road, or making confined or handcuffed people endure a two minute spray of mace by a cop is NOT a crime. Its "misconduct". Maybe, for clarity, I should say its a crime if WE do it. Misconduct if a cop does it. So don't play semantic games or use disingenuous language to cover up the TRUTH. You dumbass idiot. How did you ever get to be a cop?? Did they see a talent for falsifying reports, making stuff up, and exaggerating circumstances??

Angie....Joe wouldn't publish my reply to you...you get to call me a freakshow, but I'm not allowed to call you a fat chick....I hear you have everything a man desires --- big muscles, a deep voice, a hairy chest, and a mustache. See if this one gets through....

Evidently, you didn't read the article. Or, you're lying. Or, ...no, there are no more no's. You're lying.

The only question remaining is, are you lying to try to cover up your preferred treatment and protection from the law, or, are you THAT STUPID that you really believe the crap you say?

Either way, you are full of it.

You and your cohorts should get used to the exposure of your criminal and lying ways.

Like the song by the Carpenters, It has only just begun.

there ya go imclain. you can 'man up' , put on an uniform, badge and gun and go do manly things.

like kicking women in the head, pushing women so they fall and break their face, turn off the camera and beat up women, body slam women AFTER they have called you for help, forcefully strip women's clothes off and get a quick feel while ur at it, punch women in the jaw, have a roadside vagina exam, etc. et al.

But if ur into men instead, you can force them to have anal exams, cuff a guy then shoot his dog so it bleeds to death, knock a guy off a bicycle who is just riding by, punch a guy in the temple and put ur knee in his back AFTER HE calls you for help, shoot a guy on subway platform who is cuffed and laying on his stomach just because you feel like it, shoot a guy who is standing in a cul-de-sac just for fun, get 6 of ur buddies to beat a guy to death because he is a little retarded and won't listen to you, shoot a guy in a wheelchair, etc. et al.

I could go on all night but Joe would probably not post it because it would take up too much space.

Man up and be a cop. You can hurt, kill, maim, put people in comas, lie in ur reports, lie in court, and never fear about getting punished. Your buddy cops will do any investigating IF someone dares to file a complaint. You might even get a couple of weeks paid vacation at taxpayers expense before you RETURN to work.

And if you do a really bang up job, your boss will probably promote you.

I'm not sure you would qualify though, since it takes a REAL MAN to do all these things.

If not, you could always go to law school and be a prosecutor or a judge and get your jollies that way.
