TRULY FORTUNATE TO LIVE IN SVFD DISTRICTS. said...

Thank the members of the Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department for yet another day in the city with no structure fires.I hope that the paid members of the department are included in the upcoming raise for city employees. They are doing a splendid job in preventing conflagrations in the city, especially in fastfood, grocery, and similar occupancies. God bless them.

Please share your thanks with the volunteer firefighters who would be called to these fires or emergencies. Remember the firemen don't call you for a fire. You call them when your unfortunate enough to have a fire or emergency.

10:11, They come anyway, all day long! I see that #2 fire truck more times than I see the city buses go by!

Oh man I am beating my head against the wall here. Why do you people think that a fire department's only exists to put out house fires or commercial building fires when the fire service in general responds on many different types of "fire calls" every day because the general public does not know how to take care of the problem themselves or can't. It has been expressed here many many times that there is a problem with the S.F.D. web page that list all calls for service city wide. God only knows why they don't bother to get it fixed. There is no cover-up or conspiracy going on here. Go buy a scanner and become educated as to what your fire department does on an every day basis.

Besides running a few EMS calls per medic unit; not much of anything on the suppression side of the coin. Unless you consider flat spot removal and fire inspection of the same food establshments day in and day out as a worthwhile se of te taxpayers funding. Wonder if someone could post the year builtand current mileage of the apparatus. Would be nice to see the wear and tear on the equipment on frivolous errands as opposed to actual use. Joe,can you help?
