MARYLAND STATE POLICE HELICOPTER ASSISTS DORCHESTER COUNTY FIRE/EMS WITH AERIAL RESCUE OF TWO STRANDED BOATERS NEAR TAYLORS ISLAND
Yesterday at approximately 7:35 pm, Trooper 7 was dispatched to the Chesapeake Bay for a boat stranded on a sand bar. The boat was found with two occupants located near the shore line in the Barren Island Gap of the Chesapeake Bay. Due to low tide and its proximity to the shore line the fire department rescue boats were unable to gain access to evacuate the occupants.
The flight crew of Trooper 7 (Pilot-Mr. Brent Hearn, Flight Paramedic-Sergeant David Svites and Trooper/Rescue Technician Michael McCloskey) reconfigured the aircraft for the hoisting evolution. Trooper 7 completed two hoists, dropping off the occupants at a nearby location, where EMS personnel completed further assessment for possible injuries. Both occupants were evaluated by EMS and refused any further care.
The MSPAC is an essential component of the Statewide Trauma and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system. The Maryland State Police Aviation Command works closely with the members of all Maryland’s first response organizations as part of the state’s world renowned integrated emergency medical services system.

Wrong time of year to be stupid on a boat. Thankfully somebody helped them. At our expense.
this is total bs. they ought to make the dumb@ss reimburse the taxpayers for total misuse of the equipment involved. I'm not sure but I think there just might be a chance the tide may could come back in and refloat the boat.
of course msp will use any reason to take out their toys!
I'm sure fines will be issued.
Mr "Anonymous" you are a coward my friend. If you were the one stranded you may be thinking quite different of the resources used.
