Calling All Catholics

Area Catholics are being encouraged to fill out a questionnaire from the Vatican about the challenges facing married couples and families.

The survey is being done in advance of next year's Synod of Bishops which is going to focus on "Pastoral Challenges to the Family."

Archbishop William Lori tells WBAL Radio that the questionnaire is an innovative approach and he believes the Holy Father wanted to call the bishops from around the world to better understand the challenges facing families and married couples. "We are not getting ready to take a poll and determine the doctrine according to what the polls say," Lori says. He expects the survey will impact what pastoral outreaches are useful, how one might teach and preach.
