Just about every piece of fire equipment and every paid firemen in Salisbury today is on that call. There is no coverage in Salisbury at this time except for 2 ambulances and they are running their wheels off.

go check out the library in downtown salisbury. they had a fuel spill downstairs. can be smelled upstairs. people have gone home in lower levels, it's impossible to work. but it's being kept quiet. they need
hazmat, but the county is hiding this all.
the library should be closed..

2:31 The oil spill was yesterday afternoon. The oil company came to the library and handled the situation. I am sitting in the library right now, and there is no odor. Don't go making a mountain out of a molehill.

2:20. You don't know what your talking about. All calls have been covered as they come in. Your just a scanner chaser. I will say station 5 has asked for way more equipment than they needed from the county. But that's the way 515 is.

Before you tell 2:20 they don't know what they are talking about learn the difference between your and you're. Funny how you are defending the Sby fire fighters while getting in that dig about another station. Your ego is typical of most of the EMS around this area.

Rockinwalkin Road to MD 349 (Nanticoke Road)? are they nuts
you will never be able to turn left onto Nanticoke road during rush hour

Open a DAMN LANE......How LONG does it Take??? WTF.

Tractor Trailers need governors keeping their speeds at say 30 mph.

As someone who lives on White Lowe Road, I am getting Damn sick and tired of all the accidents that have occurred since the Royal Farms was opened at the end of my road!!!
They should have put in a service road or at least the county should have checked what the impact would be for traffic!
I personally attended the meetings and voiced my concerns along with my neighbors to no avail!
The intersection needs to be blocked off so that Vehicles can only cross in one direction.
No one seems to know who has the right of way and no one seems to obey the stop sign leaving Royal Farms unto White Lowe road. I've had to slam my brakes on more than once because of this!!! I've have my mailbox and fencing destroyed more than once because of idiots who don't know how to drive on my road!
I've called the State Highway and County Roads and the Sheriffs office more than once and nothing seems to get done about this!
Hopefully now something might get done. How many people have to get killed or injured before this problem gets fixed? I'm also getting sick of my road being used as a throughway for Rt 50 Traffic every time this happens!!!!

Hey 5:30 Most of the accidents involving tractor trailers aren't caused by the tractor trailers, they are caused by the idiots trying to get around them or cut them off. Really!!!

Well, I see we woke up all of the armchair fire chiefs. Keep up the stupid comments.

Responding units from Salisbury
Assistant Chief 1
Haz Mat 1
Paramedic 2
Engine 2
Engine Tanker 1-1
Utility 16-1 with Foam Trailer

Only 2 ambulances left in the city an yes they covered the calls and ran their butts off. No other fire or EMS crews left in the city. The city was left unprotected. The volunteers should have been alerted and they weren't.

Hey Scott is that really your road?

Anonymous said...

Hey Scott, Rt. 50 is a State Road. The County has NOTHING to do with the intersection or Royal Farms. If you had called the County like you claim, I am sure they would have told you that. You need to complain to the State Highway Administration.

What is the better alternate route? What a DA.

I'm sure Governor O'Malley won't because that would mess up his fuel tax.

And your point is?

All of Salisbury's paid firemen were in Hebron on Rt. 50 and White Lowe Road helping with that Tractor Trailer in the ditch. It's nice that they want to help other departments so they can increase their call volume, but leaving the city totally unprotected for many hours? Come on now that is very piss poor leadership. As much as the paid firemen get on here blasting the paid firemen and their slow responses that is totally asinine. Rick Hoppes and his appointed officers should be terminated for this lack of leadership. Not one volunteer station was alerted to cover the city. Not one mutual aid fire department was alerted for fire or EMS cover ups to cover the city. Of course the 2 remaining paramedic units had to run their butts off for hours until the joy riding firemen got back in town to help them. The Salisbury Fire Department has got to be the worst fire department paid or volunteer in the nation. Leadership is everything Salisbury displayed it's lack of during that long incident. By the way that was the jurisdiction of the MDE.

Isn't that the truth. Does he still get drunk and respond on calls? Not only is he the problem, the people in the Hebron Fire Department that keep voting for him are the problem.

I heard him yelling and screaming on the radio yesterday and he tried to attack a fire engine crew from responding from Parsonsburg as soon as he heard them answer up on the air. He sarcastically asked Central what the fire engine was responding for because he asked for tankers. Central corrected him and said he asked for a tanker task force and an engine was part of the tanker task force. He was owned by Wicomico 911. That clown tries to run the county as Hebron fire chief and he doesn't even know the rules they play by.

Since the intersection in question is on the corner of rt 50 and White Lowe Road, and the problem intersection is the crossing over rt 50 from westbound to East bound, I called the state highway about this. State and county are involved and this has been a problem intersection since the Royal Farms was built. So I stand by my statement.

Regarding the library for what it's worth,
There was a small oil spill on the ground floor in the boiler room. Management took care of the problem without calling hazmat as soon as they were done with a previously scheduled meeting Wed. afternoon. Downstairs employees were sent home the rest of that afternoon and advised not to come to work on Thursday as the fumes were too bad.
The same problem had occurred several weeks ago.
The only "cover up" was not calling Hazmat (they had their hands full in two other locations simultaneously) cleaning up the spill and shampooing the carpet.
Poo poo happens, get over it.

"All the cities paid firemen re on this call and no volunteers were called to cover the stations". Well what you don't know is that most volunteers could not leave work and those whose pagers went off were staffing apparatus in the stations. You clearly know nothing about mutual aid. What if neighboring volunteers refused to leave their towns to help Salisbury with a big fire. Lets just say a large building on the corner of West Main and West Market St. A challenge to any fire department for manpower and in todays world. What would you suggest Joe. "Let Her Burn" cause nobody is coming to help ? You would be well served to educate yourself about the procedures of todays fire service. You make yourself look foolish with your statements.

@2:55
I can't believe that a member of the fire department would threaten to burn down someones rental. The subletters should press charges for them making a death threat.

Anonymous said...

Read carefully. The question was posed "What would you say Joe". Nobody said anything about burning anything down. Once again you missed the point of the question. Its like talking to MSNBC when talking to you.

oh shut up for petes sake. it's not YOUR road. And it's not the intersection causing accidents, it's the freaking non-driving public.

They have no skills and when someone quotes a law, they are lost.

That intersection is one of the better ones around here. It has deceleration lanes, acceleration lanes, yield sign, stop sign, end of lane sign.

My God, it does everything but drive the car for the dummies.

I don't mind the idiots getting hurt or killed, thins out the herd, but the innocent loss of life because they don't know how to drive is horrible.

I haven't read the report on the truck crash but it sounds more like he fell asleep or had a medical emerg. rather than being anything to do with the intersection.
