Deputy Fired After Trying To Arrest Soldier At Bar

The Richland County Sheriff's deputy caught attempting to arrest a Fort Jackson soldier after allegedly getting into an argument with her at a Columbia restaurant last week has been fired.

Deputy Paul Allen Derrick is no longer with the Sheriff's Department after the incident at Buffalo Wild Wings on Devine Street back on Oct. 7.

Derrick was initially placed on leave without pay

The decision comes after Sheriff Leon Lott discussed the incident with Interim Columbia Chief Ruben Santiago and Fifth Circuit Solicitor Dan Johnson

Have to wonder what else he has done along his career path, that he has gotten away with.
In this and other instances, its about time technology progressed, to allow citizen to right the wrongs that have gone unpunished for decades

Was he trying to get some booty from the female soldier then got denied?

Hopefully Bubba will get some booty when he has to serve some time.

By an Army Private who really is inexperienced with waterboarding! Just let him read it from an instruction book without coaching!

what's the problem he'll just move on down the road and get a job as a cop in your hometown. these monsters know how to play the game and the system lets them!

Good thing the video existed. If not, she would be paying a lawyer $2500 to appear in front of a judge who would surely given her a big fine and some community service worked out by the ace kissing DA. It ain't just the cops beating and killing people. Its the judges and States Attorneys who see these things everyday and do nothing but nod their heads in complicity. 6:02 has it right. Anyone think this is the FIRST time this cop ever beat someone up, but no video existed, so it was just another "resisting arrest, failure to comply, disturbing the peace, obstructing justice" railroad job by the local stornm troopers?

where is that freak that calls everyone a cop hater?

There are over 800,000 peace officers in the U.S. There are easily 25,000,000 citizen contacts each day. I'm glad idiots like the cop in the video were fired. But with 25,000,000 citizen-cop contacts each day, the percentage of bad cops, or even cops who make bad mistake are extremely low. Add this to the fact that most of these contacts are recorded by cell phones, dashcams, or surveillance cameras. Some people may want to dedicate their lives to more pressing issues then the bad cops in the USA.

11:13....do not summarily discount the "bad cops" and offhandedly ridicule the citizens who call them something other than "peace" officers. Cops KILL people. With official sanction and authority. THAT is a pressing issue all the time. Except for cops. The same argument could be made about drunk drivers, the total number of drivers on the road, the number of miles driven relative to the number of accidents, etc. Should we dedicate ourselves to more pressing issues than a relatively few people killed by drunk drivers? And how many citizen-cop "contacts" turn out bad (murder, beatings, rape, theft, etc) but are NEVER reported or see the light of day? Wake up. Or read the stories about cities across the country that fire bad cops, let the story die down, then quietly REHIRE them with back pay and benefits....cops are violent and prone to violence. They have NO restraint, poor training, little to no self control, and a belief in their MASTERY of the people they supposedly serve.

Imclaim, rethink your life. The stats above show you how small the problem is. If you want to compare drunk drivers to bad cops, the proper comparison would be; How many accidents are cause by sober vs drunks?; and how many murders are committed by police vs regular public? If there are so many victims of police killing people, how many do you know? I know many victims of drunk drivers. I'm one of them.
Can you answer without words in caps, or did I get you so very upset?

I'm glad that cops and the military are prone to violence. How else can a sheepdog protect the sheep? with fangs and knowledge. It is an unfortunate reality that there are some very evil people out there. Good guys need to be violent sometimes. Even the Pope has armed guards.
Police deal with citizens billions of times a year. The percentage of bad cops is very small. Even if you can find thousands of clips on youtube from over the past 20 years, the percentage is very small.

12:26...the stats (whose stats?), huh? He compared the number of cops to the number of bad cops. I compared the number of drivers to the number of drunk drivers. He DISMISSED the concern some citizens have for "bad cops". One can dismiss a clerical error or a bad haircut. You CANNOT dismiss an armed agent of the government killing/beating/raping citizens. Whether a "good" cop kills you or a "bad" one does, you are still dead. Same thing is true for drivers. Sober or drunk you are still dead. But the percentage is still small. Very small. The comparison is accurate and valid. Live with the caps.

Cops and the military do two far different jobs. I WANT the military to be stone cold killers. I want the police to be able to ignore a drunk student running his mouth, instead of claiming (quite laughably, I will add) that he "threatened" them --- four guys with guns and a dog threatened by an unarmed drunk kid? really???-- and then doing what is ILLEGAL for us, namely getting a 120lb trained attack dog to bite him numerous times in the head and neck while him and three friends beat him semi-comatose. I go to PRISON for that. Cops go home after they file a report claiming he "resisted" them. Restraint. Self control. Old school cop values. New school cop values? We are the police!! Fear us! Cops have a very tough job. No doubt. They just don't get to commit FELONIES because someone pissed them off. That isn't "the police"; thats the Gestapo.
