Maryland's jobless numbers reflected a national trend last month.
Maryland was one of 28 states where the unemployment rate increased in June, even as the unemployment rate increased.
In Maryland's cases, more people started looking for work in June, and because not all of them found jobs the employment rate rose three-tenths of a percent to an even 7-percent.
However, state labor officials say 4,300 jobs were added in Maryland in June. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the state added 6,200 private sector jobs in June, but that was offset by a loss of 1,900 public sector jobs.
