Get behind the wheel in Maryland, and there’s a good chance you’re being followed.Not in the traditional sense, but by license plate readers.
Alex DeMetrick reports–the technology is welcomed by police, but raising privacy concerns.
Lasers focus the cameras that take photos of passing license plates, instantly sending them to a computer.
“I get an audible alarm and it also goes up red and lets me know, ‘Hey, key in on this, something’s happening,’” an officer said.

ever see those orange portable boxes on the side of the HWY. you know with pole sticking out the top. smile.
This instrument can be tweaked to capture and store data only when the a suspect vehicle is captured. Maryland has elected to capture all data of every vehicle on the highway.
