An American flag made of industrial hemp will fly over the U.S. Capitol on Independence Day.Democratic Rep. Jared Polis of Colorado announced Wednesday that his request for the hemp-made flag was granted.
Polis has long pushed for the plant to be legal for farmers to grow. Industrial hemp looks much like marijuana but does not have its psychoactive properties. Federal law prohibits growing hemp, but not importing it.
Historians say the first American flags were made of hemp, which was raised by George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.

The hemp shop in OC sells all types of clothing.Hemp clothes last way longer than clothes made from traditional material.They cost a bit more,but they are worth it.
I buy the hemp clothing because when they wear out I like the smell of them burning.
Is this what we have to celebrate on the 4th of July? Is this what this has all been about? I can have a hemp flag now. Everyone can have a hemp flag. The soldiers can all come home. America has finally reached her peak.
Hemp is really a superior, natural, product when compared to other fibers. You can blame the large paper industries way back for pushing this great product out of the country.
