DELAWARE RADIO STATION EXPANDS INTO LOWER EASTERN SHORE

Harrington, Delaware based 88.7 The Bridge (WKNZ-FM) is now broadcasting on a new frequency in the Salisbury/Ocean City area. The contemporary Christian music station has started simulcasting its popular programming on 87.7 FM from a transmitter and tower near Whaleysville, MD.

The expansion helps the station become truly a “Delmarva” station, according to The Bridge general manager Bill Sammons, Jr. “Our signal on the original 88.7 frequency is sometimes spotting in Salisbury, and especially in Berlin, Ocean City, Snow Hill and surrounding areas. By adding 87.7 in that area, we are now loud and clear on most of Maryland's Lower Eastern Shore and along Coastal Sussex so people can listen to The Bridge from New Castle County, Delaware south to the Virginia Line without interruption”, Sammons said.

88.7 The Bridge is a non-profit, community-supported radio station. In just two and a half years, it is established itself as a vital ministry supporting many local non-profit organizations and causes. The Bridge is also rare in today's broadcasting world, because it is live and local from 6am until 10pm every weekday.

“We exist to help connect people to each other and God, and to help strengthen individuals and families on Delmarva”, said Sammons. “Our announcers live here, shop here, worship here – and we talk about things that affect the Shore including offering local news, our own meteorologist, and special programming that is geared towards local issues.”

The Bridge also streams its programming live on the internet via its website www.887thebridge.com and it has a free smartphone app available from the iTunes store and Google Play that includes a 'Listen Live' function. The station is also on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/delmarva887thebridge.
