Sequestration Could Force Cuts At the U.S. Naval Academy

Sequestration could force the U.S. Naval Academy to cancel classes, according to an academy spokesman.

Commander John Schofield told WBAL Radio the sequester has resulted in furlough days as a result of decisions from the Department of Defense that have been handed down to the various military commands.

"In particular for us," he said, "civilian employees of the Department of Defense have been mandated to take 11 furlough days starting July 8th and ending at the end of the fiscal year which is September 30."

He said that means they'll have to take one day per week or two days per pay period as furlough days.

We have to pay for trips to Africa somehow. Good thing to cut, weaken our country even more. Kudos, Capital Hill.
