Talk different.
That’s the essential message of the College Republican National Committee’s new report on how young adults view the GOP, a document that offers a serious look at how Republicans talk about policy and why they’ve been so unsuccessful in reaching Millennial voters.
“What the GOP needs to understand is that young adults are open to voting for them, but want to know concretely how Republicans plan to solve the problems that they’re facing in their day-to-day lives,” says Kristen Soltis Anderson, a GOP pollster who conducted focus groups for the report and was its principal writer.

they are losing the youth because the youth are expecting the government to take care of them. they do not understand conservative principles which create jobs. they expect to be handed a high paying job because they went to some liberal arts school and racked up huge debt. the entitlement generation is the problem not the conservative talking points.
126-What is losing the youth vote is not conservative economic principles. It's the dixiecratism, where sexual preference or color of the skin make a bit of difference, combined with the fact that the leaders of the GOP do not embrace conservative economic philosophies, and are forgiven by the majority in the party and who simply tow the party line like they did throughout the Bush terms. Many youth of my generation embrace the conservative philosophies on economics(see the support Ron Paul received from the young age demos).
The GOP is losing or never had youth because they often lack the ability to understand the issues and speak intelligently about them. Young people are not stupid.
"Young people are not stupid." Not stupid, but massively ignorant. They have no idea how the real world works and are easily swayed by the first fraud that comes along babbling idiotic crap like 'Yes, we can!" or "Hope and change!".
How do I know this to be true? Because I voted for Jimmy Carter before I grew up and started paying taxes.
My kids have been Republicans for10 & 7 yrs. now and much like myself feel the Republican voters have not changed those making the party calls on issues have! The type of Reganesque Republican that a mother and father modeled for them as they grew up has been lost to the social liberal, financial moderate craze that has sent us down a road of quite possibly a point of no return! This ends with those Regan Republicans with no horse in the race and an ever increasing sense of being left in the lerch by the very people we put in office as they leave office or turn to some ever changing political has Beens.
1:51 is correct. I know plenty of young people who are fiscally conservative but will never vote Republican because of the party's repugnant, bigoted social policies. They either vote third-party or Democrat, seeing it as the lesser of two evils.
902-Fiscal conservatism has been AWOL from the party since Newt's regime was ran out of town.
Think back, in the 90's the speakership "election" was between Newt and John "Orangeman" Boehner. Thankfully, Newt won in the 90s and was able to lead us to some smart fiscal policies. Sadly, the GOP leaders have become so off kilter they elected Boehner as Speaker in 2010. The GOP lost their way, and that's why they're losing their connection with voters. What do they stand for?
