Deadly tornadoes touched down Friday west of Oklahoma City, killing at least five, while trapping motorists and crumbling cars and tractor-trailers.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said troopers found the bodies of a mother and a child near a vehicle along Interstate 40 west of the city. The state medical examiner's office said at least 3 others were killed in area's suburbs Friday.
Hospitals in the area said about 50 people were hurt, including five critically. Amy Elliott, a spokeswoman for the state medical examiner, said early Saturday that she had no immediate word of additional fatalities.
