Man With Tourette's Says 'Bomb,' Barred From Plane

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) -- A Maryland man with Tourette syndrome was barred from a JetBlue flight after repeatedly saying "bomb" during the check-in process.

Michael Doyle, 19, of Rockville, Md., had been scheduled to fly Thursday with a friend from Reagan National Airport outside Washington to San Juan, Puerto Rico, for a Revolutionary War re-enactment.

He told WTTG-TV (http://bit.ly/Y95OHl) that he brought paperwork documenting his illness in case he said anything to prompt a security concern. Tourette syndrome is a neurological disorder that can cause uncontrolled speech.

He should have been allowed on the plane and then thrown out at 30,000 ft.He could have blabbed to the birds till his heart was content.

You 10:24am apparently have a deep understanding of mental illness. Your compassion for others defines you.

How incredibly rude and ignorant these posts are. The man has a condition that he cannot control. Maybe the article should be taken as an chance to educate others not insult the poor man. If either of you were removed from a flight for a medical issue that you could not control I bet you would run to the news. Just because it did not specifically affect you does not mean it isn't important.

Tough call, but I think the airline is correct in this case.

Sounds like a clear violation of the ADA act. So one federal agency going against another federal agency.
