Higher Tax In Maryland Can Be Blamed On The Rain

Rain has a price. A last ditch attempt to delay a new stormwater fee failed this week and now Maryland residents could get an unexpected bill this summer.

When rain falls, pollutants get flushed into the Chesapeake Bay and because of that the fees will go into effect - a move critics are slamming as a "rain tax."

The Watershed Protection and Restoration Program was signed into law in April 2012. It established "a system of stormwater remediation fees and a local watershed protection and restoration fund," according to the Maryland Department of Environment's Water Management Administration.

Residents in Montgomery, Prince George's and Charles counties already pay a similar fee but it will soon apply to residents and businesses in all of Maryland's 10 largest jurisdictions:

  • Anne Arundel County
  • Baltimore City
  • Baltimore County
  • Carroll County
  • Charles County
  • Frederick County
  • Harford County
  • Howard County
  • Montgomery County
  • Prince George's County

PERFECT Time for Maryland home owners to file a lawsuit against EVERGREEN, the FAA, and many others in local city council.

And put a stop to the Geo-Engineering.

DIG IN THEIR CAFR DOCS for sources of funding.

Good thing the democrats are all for the middle class, and the below middle class, nothing like looking out for the working people in MD if your one of the lucky ones that still have a job.

finally the shore gets left alone by those idiots in Annapolis.

anonymous 1:12, your wrong. You see, Mayor Jim Ireton voluntarily INCLUDED Salisbury with Governor O'Malley while the County told the Governor the taxpayers simply cannot afford this tax. Hence Ireton's announcement for a $19,000,000.00 yearly tax increase, which was completely NOT necessary.

I'm sure you'll watch that number drop dramatically very soon so that the taxpayers will feel like Ireton actually got them a deal. Ireton screwed the citizens of Salisbury.

HAHAH just like the bay bridge... They fought the $10 hike to the tolls and got it to $8 and thought they did something... made them feel all warm inside... When in reality it rose from $2.50 upto $8... Bunch of dumbasses live in SBY and MD...

I mean so much so, I almost feel more stupid just by being in MD for 8 hrs...

People, please get out and vote next election and REMEMBER these things.

Now is this going to be calculated on a year to year basis depending on how much rain falls for that year?

Nothing will change because there are to many Democrats on welfare and food stamps. They will always vote for a Democrat. You just plain can't fix stupid.

I talk to people every day for these counties and I can tell you they are pissed! Especially homeowners who like us have to pay for the flush tax as well!

omalley loves the EPA; an agency whos been with us much too long. they were never voted in, they wield too much power and are accountable to no one. have you had enough of their lies and regs yet?

uh huh. Vote. YOUR guy will "change things". Anyone still really REALLY believe that??

So how again does a tax on an impervious surface keep rainwater from running off it into the Bay? And in order to get around the tax, can I just go back to a dirt driveway and remove the roof from my house? I'm not sure my HOA would approve of that!

The EPA is nothing but a front for big business who due to anti trust laws needed a way to eliminate competition. EPA regs, fees, etc are dreamed up by big corporations. Just look who is on the 'advisory board'-CEO of GE to name one. GE would love nothing more than to regulate right out of business the small repair person so any and all repairs have to go through them. Omalley and the dems love the EPA because the dems have their heads stuffed up big businesees butts contrary to what their peabrained voters think.

Rain taxes really! We need to get rid of O'Malley soon or he'll make another stupid tax for example air taxes, each time you breathe or inhale any form of Oxygen you'll pay taxes on it.

Let's make this guy President of the U.S.!
This will guarantee the demise...

Don't forget that the flush tax was increased from $30 to 60 and that was suppose to fix the bay also. How much money are we going to dump into the bay? I doubt that all of this money even gets to the bay, it's probably wasted on other stupid government projects. I just wish that the ones that voted for these idiots were the ones that had to pay and the rest of us could just laugh.
