Key Points:
Eileen Hart objected to a mandatory re-evaluation of her property value that would drastically increase her tax rates
She read the Constitution at a tax dispute forum and called one of the appraisers a “pencil-pusher”
One of tax officials called 911 saying Hart threatened to return with a gun, but she unequivocally denies the claim
Hart was charged with making “terroristic threats” and told that if she didn’t turn over her weapons, her bail would be prohibitively high and it was unclear how long she would have to remain in jail
A New Jersey mother was arrested and told to turn over her guns after reading the Constitution and peacefully protesting at a tax dispute forum, she says.
Eileen Hart was with her husband Keith and her 7-year-old daughter on Saturday at the Gloucester Community Center to dispute a mandatory home re-evaluation that would roughly double her property value (and therefore dramatically increase her rates), objecting on multiple grounds. As an Orthodox Jew, she refused to have the inspectors in her home when her husband was away at work. As an American citizen, she objected to the seemingly arbitrary reappraisal, noting that she is not planning on selling her home and hasn’t renovated her kitchen in 30 years.
But at the forum, Hart was allegedly told that since she didn’t let the inspectors into her home, they had a right to “assume” its value under the New Jersey state constitution.

So now they can come in and confiscate your guns if somebody says they think they heard you say something. There will be a gun battle at my house on that day. I will now co mingle with my neighbors to create a team database of who is in my congress and have a phone blast ready for that day, and make sure they have the same.
I don't believe this woman made any such threats.., "..going to come back with a gun..", that's a perfectly made-up lie that has probably been rehearsed for just such an occasion and I wouldn't be surprised at how many more governments have similar plans to cope with dissenting citizens.
Upward creeping assesments and downward plunging values is why the housing market is in such a deep state of depression. No one can afford to buy AND pay taxes at the same time anymore.
If I can sell my house, the next one's gonna be a motorhome or houseboat.
Sounds like a Salisbury City council meeting.
They are simple to deal with. Ignore them.
If they (the MSP) force the issue in MD.?
Center mass.
One thing for sure! She can expect the highest tax rate they can legally get away with.
No one knows what the spark will be that finally sets the populace on a rage that cleanses our nation of these imperious and presumptuous politicians and their lackeys. But THEY know there is an undercurrent of resentment and anger against their pompous dismissal of the peasants and their concerns. They also believe that nothing will ever happen to stop them. Same attitude King George, his administrators, and his troops thought. Look what happened to them. Guess what's gonna happen to our current crop of know-it-all rulers? Actually, very little guessing is necessary.
