Governor Martin O'Malley is expected to join leaders of the NAACP, clergy and other lawmakers at a rally Tuesday, calling on lawmakers to repeal the death penalty.
A spokeswoman for the governor told WBAL News that O'Malley is merely attending the rally, and is not using the event to announce plans to pursue a repeal.
National NAACP President and CEO Ben Jealous, State Conference President Gerald Stansbury, and Congressman Elijah Cummings are among the scheduled speakers for the rally that starts at noon.

Is there anyone alive that thinks the Colorado theatre shooter James Holmes should still be alive?
He should have been hanged on the courthouse lawn immediately.
In a civilized society the death penalty is a must and in cases such as this where the shooter had an active disregard for life, he should be euthanized post haste.
O'Malley and liberals need to grow some sack and stop being such pansies.
lets not be mean to them, they are people to. Lets let them live and think about what they have done.
Lets give them free education, and HBO, Direct TV and even gym membership... Oh and free health care, no taxes and ......
This poor guy just needs some TLC guys, he did not mean to hurt anyone, it was the guns fault. It asked him to do all this.
If they use a gun in the commission of the murder lets give them the switch, this would solve two problems at once.
