It’s a safe assumption to make that the reelection of Barack Hussein Obama to the office of the United States Presidency will be talked about for decades to come. In history textbooks, 2012 will be referred as a momentous election year when the nation came together and collectively decided to stick with a president through the thick. Like Franklin Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, and other “transformative” presidents before him, Obama will be praised for keeping the country together in the midst of economic difficulty. In sum, he will be called a popular figure who triumphed over America’s old guard and lead the nation into a new era of solidarity and renewed social tolerance.
The lavishing has already begun with prominent voices on the left like Paul Krugman declaring [18] the “new America” has made Obama their champion. It’s being said in major newspapers across the world that this new incarnation of the American experiment is much more attuned to the struggle of minorities and the downtrodden. They went with a President who will use the divine power of the federal government to lift the disenfranchised onto the platform of dignified living.
Like most of what passes for accepted history, this is downright propaganda. The country as a whole wasn’t frightened over sudden change by throwing out the incumbent. It wasn’t a declaration of a new, more diverse America. Shaping a new destiny wasn’t on the casual voter’s mind on November 6th.
There is a rational explanation for the President’s reelection which doesn’t invoke a deep or complex meaning. The only way to explain the outcome is in the simplest and direct prose: the moochers prevailed.
Obama’s winning tactic was to do what any respectable man does when he wishes to have something; he bought it. From cell phones and contraceptives to food stamps and unemployment benefits, the Obama administration kept the money flowing to ensure a steady turnout on Election Day. The coup de grâce was painting his opponent as a second coming of Dickens’ Scrooge that was ready to cut the voters from their trust funds.

According to the 2010 Census you are wrong.
Alaska gets the most....followed by Wyoming, Delaware, New Mexico, Vermont, North Dakota, New York, Lousiana, Missisppi and Montana. Those are the top 10 per capita.
Like I said 12:31, keep believing your own BS,
The GOP should give Obama everything he asks for with a footnote that doing so they are only trying to help our country move forward.
In two years if things haven't improved, Obama can no longer blame the GOP for his failed policies and in 2014 the GOP sweeps the House and Senate both!
Give BO all the rope he needs to hang himself and the rest is history!
"From cell phones and contraceptives to food stamps and unemployment benefits"... that's strange, I didn't realize that President Obama started all of those programs.
The reason the Republicans lost this election is simple. They simply cannot recognize facts from spin. They have been doing it for the last 12 years , they continue to do it today, and will probably continue for the next 4 years and will be whining again after the next election! Then, they will... never mind.
No one said he started those programs, 1:07. Everyone knows he expanded on them and gutted them-you do know that don't you 1:07?
For instance one reason the cell phone program was enacted was to help people in their job search or for someone who had a medical problem or someone in an abusive situation. Obama took out those requirements, as he also did with other entitlement programs. He was especially fond of removing the required job search to qualify. Instead of the "hand up" these programs were designed for he turned them into nothing more than a "hand out."
1:07,That's strange. I didn't realize that this article says that Obama started all you mentioned. Could you point out where this was said? Maybe I'm missing something.
1:07 is an example of the dumbing down of Americans. The article doesn't state nor does it even give the impression that Obama started the mentioned programs. Only that he kept the money flowing into them. 1:07 lacks not only the critical thinking skills but also the reading comprehension skills which are not taught in public schools.
1:07 was simply commenting on the blame game being put forth by the original post. Give the guy a break; most of us knew what he meant.
We College Kids voted for Obama for like he is cool man and not some old dude like he so cool man u just do not know man!
And he was aided by the main stream media and corrupt unions.
It wasn't their turn to win.
The moocher turn-out certainly helped, but the complete reason that Obama won is because he energized his base. He is the most liberal, leftist president EVER. And the dimicrats love him! And so they turned out for him.
The Repubs did the opposite. They put up a guy that was so exciting that he stepped aside for John McCain in the last election! Yawn. No excitement, no energizing the base, no nothing. It's not really a surprise that he lost. He seemed to do better in Oct, but by then it was really too late.
The one and only thing for congress to do now, is STONEWALL. Just don't let anything happen. Obama will never go along with anything fiscally conservative (or anything else conservative, either). So the only thing left for congress is to try to limit the damage by stonewalling, hard.
