Evans' salary for 2011 was $951,957plusexpenses.The United Way President Brian Gallagher receives a $675,000 base salary along with numerous expense benefits .UNICEF CEO Caryl M. Stern receives $1,900,000 per year (158K) per month, plus all expensesincluding a ROLLS ROYCE.
Less than 5 cents (4.4 cents) per donated dollar goes to the cause.
Meanwhile...The Salvation Army's Commissioner Todd Bassett receives a salary of only$13,000 per year(plus housing) for managing this $2 billion dollar organization. 96 percent of donated dollars go to the cause.
The Wounded Warrior Project helps our military personnel that have been wounded and also helps the families of those service men & women. Their 2011 expenses were $108,077,426 and only 4.4% went to cover the ENTIRE administrative costs for this 100 million dollar charity.The American Legion National Commander receives a $0.00 zero salary. Your donations go to help Veterans and their families and youth!

Local United Way and Red Cross funds DO NOT receive funding from the national organizations, their funding is from local pockets to local needs. While your stats are true for the national org, please don't let this sway anyone's interest in donating to the LOCAL Red Cross or United Way.
PRMC practically FORCES you to contribute part of your paycheck to United Way.

The students at Pittsville Elementary and Middle School collected for Unicef just before Halloween. I told a student that asked me to donate change, that I would not because very little of the money that's collected actually goes to the children in need.He actually threw the collection box in the trash can when I told him that.
Yes, I can confirm pressure from PRMC management to give to the United Way. Our management has arranged a meeting to meet with UW representatives. Guess I need to call in sick that day and send Wounded Warrior a check instead.
