According to the Briefing Book issued by Wicomico County Executive's office, Wicomico County officials are entertaining proposals to purchase 2 more parcels of private property; - 23.072 acres on Walnut Tree Road and Allen Road - for a future transfer dumping station - (asking price $220,000), and also 7.510 acres located on the westerly side of Levin Dashiell Road - future expansion of Westside Collector Road - ($63,000).
These items will probably go under the 'public radar' as the county council meeting is slated for today - election day.

What a way to go. Free Enterprise retracts while government continues to expand.

I am very skeptical as to who is setting the agendas for these council meetings.
You are soooo right. I mean investors hate Obama. It's not like investors helped drive the dow from the doldrums of the 7000's to 13k+ during his term

I agree. I do not think the officials realize the errors of their ways. Taking out private sector contributors and replacing these properties with buildings and government personnel and then exempting these properties will definately effect the balance sheets.
3:40pm What the heck are you talking about. It looks to me like the land on Allen Road is for the public interest, a Transfer Dumping Station.
And, the land on Levin Dashiell Road if the the Westside Collector Road, again, another public interest.

Most everyone will have their eyes trained on the election as this one is suppose to be razor tight. So there will be no one at that council meeting. I to am skeptical as to the timing of these acquisitions.
Once again Slick Rick is paying at least twice what the property is worth rather than doing a condemnation.
So let me get this straight. Some are up in arms about the county paying 220K for roughly 20 acres for a transfer/ recycling station but less than a mile away you were ok with the govt. spendng a couple million for roughly the same size parcel for a school and boat loads of money for a parking lot at the civic center.......hmmmmm........

I think not. It is in the public's interest to refrain from these types of transactions as it is eroding the overall tax base. It is thinking like yours that has got this nation deep in debt. If they need to transfer from Allen Road - there is another transfer station not all that far in nearby Somerset. Maybe now that we have the Tri County Council then maybe they can reciprocate.
Don't you think that the people that live in that area would like a transfer station to replace the one in Allen that the county was evicted from? I know I do. Also, the westside collector road has already begun, it will alleviate much congestion from Nanticoke road. If they need an additional piece to complete the road....so be it.
Loosen up your tinfoil hats. Items come up and are added to the agenda....no conspiracy.
