The State of Maryland is waiving tolls, weight requirements and permitting for trucks traveling through Maryland that are carrying relief supplies to New York and New Jersey, the areas ravaged by Superstorm Sandy.
The Maryland State Highway Administration says that, as of 3 p.m. today, Governor Martin O'Malley has waived tolls for utility trucks, emergency vehicles and vehicles carrying relief supplies.
The toll waiver will remain in effect until 3 p.m. Tuesday.
“All reasonable steps must be taken to assist relief efforts in the wake of this unprecedented storm,” said Governor O’Malley in a news release.
