Georgetown, DE-The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating a September 8th crash that claimed the life of Oliver K. Ayars, 53 of Millsboro.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the crash occurred on Saturday September 8, 2012 at approximately 7:00 p.m. as Oliver K. Ayars was operating a 2007 Chevrolet Impala northbound on Gravel Hill Road north of Kawan Drive approaching a sharp “S” curve. Due to the speed of the vehicle, the Impala began to rotate in a counterclockwise direction before crossing the center lane and eventually sliding off the west side of the roadway where the car struck a utility pole with the passenger’s side of the car.
Oliver Ayars was removed from the scene by EMS and initially transported to Beebe Hospital. He was later flown to Christiana Hospital due to his critical injuries. He succumbed to those injuries at Christiana Hospital on Monday October 1, 2012.
