Easy Come, Easy Go?

An associate recently said to me, John Robinson has more money then sense.

It would seem that John's recently opened newspaper has disappeared from Salisbury driveways for good. I spoke with John over a week ago and he still had hope his newspaper would come back. He gave me details of their problems and I assured him that what he had told me would remain off the record.

It's unfortunate because I know John made quite a hefty financial investment but money doesn't mean you can successfully run a business you have to rely on the people you hire to make it work. Many have challenged why John would hire Sarah Lake, immediately after being terminated from the Daily Times. The only reply I can give is, he either likes to give people a second chance or he simply likes the underdogs.

NEXT?

For once in my life, Albero, I agree with you. Robinson, while a nice enough guy, has more money that he does sense. Most of his businesses are poorly managed, with high school kids acting as management. They show up at his jewelry store as if they were stocking a warehouse, in blue jeans. None of his business ventures, including the paper, are well thought out. Even there he hired an ad salesman from The Daily Times to be new paper's general manager. What in the world did this guy know about being a general manager of newspaper, or a manager period? Without ad revenues already in place before the first edition hit the streets, even Ray Charles could see he was going to have to be robbing Peter to pay Paul. He had no business plan, no marketing plan, and I'd bet a fin he had not annual operating budget prepared. I'd say that is pretty much true for all his business venture. It just looks like he sits on the toilet, gets and idea, and without any real forethought or responsible business planning he gets busy buying buildings, equipment and hiring people. He's like so many business people. They make money in spite of themself, and they don't realize if they hired better educated more experienced people to run their business, they'd make even more.

why can't people just dom things for the goodness of their heart... Why does it have to be politico or see look I got my ugly face in the picture yet again... see look at me, I am in a picture...

So sick of these losers in my city who run the city... Just be damn glad this isn't the 1800's anymore... because back then they didn't take any lip from anyone and would drop you with one pull of the trigger... crooks get shot, rapist get shot, you kill someone by mistake or on purpose you get shot... you hurt a woman you got hung by a rope... and back then I sure as hell had the right to drop you face in the dirt with my gun if you stole my money period!!!

I wouldn't spend a dime in any of his businesses.

Knowing John, he had revenue sharing arrangements with everybody. But the revenue never appeared. He probably got out of it spending little, if any money.

If he would stop trying to be you and just live his life maybe just maybe he would make something of himself.

John is a good guy. The people who work for him are hard working. The paper was a mistake. He had no idea what he was doing.

John is a likeable guy and has done good things for charities in the community.

He means well, but it's true, he's really dumb as a stump.

John Robinson has that same problem Laura Mitchell has about paying bills.
