Baseball Game, Dodgeball Tournament Saturday, Oct. 13 To Benefit Students

Saturday, Oct. 13
Benefit Baseball Game for Austin Knarr
Shorebirds Stadium

The Shorebirds Youth will take on the Fruitland Force at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, in a benfit game at Shorebirds Stadium. Proceeds from the game will go to benefit Austin Knarr, a Bennett Middle student diagnosed last year with Crohn’s disease in his stomach and small intestine. Crohn’s disease claimed Austin’s father when Austin was just a young boy, and now Austin has been coping with many tests, treatments, medications and daily joint pain that limits his ability to enjoy playing the sport he loves most, baseball. Austin and his family have worked tirelessly to raise more than $10,000 to donate to the CCFA (Crohn’s Colitis Foundation of America) in hopes a cure will be found. The game at Shorebirds Stadium will honor Austin and his fight against Crohn’s disease, and donations accepted at the gate will help offset the medical expenses he and his family have incurred. Gates open at 1 p.m.
