DNR Invites Public To Information Meeting October 3

Salisbury, MD - The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Forest Service will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, October 3 at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center to present information on the newly established hunting tracts in Chesapeake Forest. The changes include expanding the forest’s public hunting acreage by 1,822 acres and making 15 tracts available for leased hunting opportunities. “After managing public and leased hunting in the Chesapeake Forest for the last 13 years, it’s apparent that the hunting community values both of these opportunities,” said Forestry Director Steve Koehn. “We want to make certain that anyone interested in why and how this decision was made has the opportunity to hear directly from us.” The meeting will provide an opportunity for the public to hear a presentation from DNR Forest Service staff on the hunting tract changes and have questions answered by both Forest Service and Wildlife and Heritage Service staff regarding the new opportunities these changes provide. The meeting will be held in the DaNang Room of the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center (500 Glen Avenue, Salisbury) on Wednesday, October 3 from 6:30-8:30pm.
