As a child I remember going to Small's Bootery for shoes. My mom bought clothes for me at Lad and Lassie on the plaza. Also the Christmas parade used to go through downtown. (probably late 60's to early 70's)

Going to Brittingham's soda fountain ( downtown division street, now surrounded by PMRC ) for a chocolate zip and a hot dog with my father and uncles.]
Late nights at English Grill.
Playing aroung SU's campus in the summer-it was a ghost town, and you could just walk into the old Tawes Gym and shoot hoops...Then a nehi at College Market- drank there, because we didn't have the additional nickel for the bottle deposit.
I'm tearing up now...
Salisbury Little League and Easter egg hunt in City Park by Beaverdam.
The "old mall" on Civic Avenue. Many fond memories there.
I also liked the Christmas parades downtown...they were on Saturdays then. Many religious floats and entries were in it since churches had more opportunity to participate since it wasn't on a Sunday.
Going to Woolworths on the Plaza with my Mom- loved that place.
Standing in the woolworths store and watching the christmas parade go by. Watching the parade and then do your christmas shopping.

When I moved from there
I remember trips to Salisbury to the Roller Rink on Baptist St. The rink of upstairs. I can still hear the music and see the crowds roller skating and having such fun. My Dad use to drive a schoolbus and would take a group of kids on Friday nights up there. This was in the early 50's.
It was memorial when in 1956 I joined the Navy at the recruiting station (in the PO building) and off to Bootcamp for a couple of months.
Carrolls (not sure if it is spelled right) drive-in.
Many of the same above comments. Salisbury was once a small town safe haven kind of place.
It's so sad to see it now.
Saturday triple features at Ulman's theater for 25 cents.Not a typo.It really cost 25 cents for the Saturday matinee triple feature.
Such innocent times... so sad Salisbury will never be like that again.
Old Salisbury!!
The Christmas parade when it was held downtown way back in the day.
The old firehouse, Ralph & Gaskill's, White's Jewelers, Benjamins & Hess Apparel. Legends Restaurant. JC Penney's. Hubert White Hardware. The original Vernon Powell Shoes. The Fashion Shop. Edythe's. Woolworths. Feldman's Furniture. Wow, I didn't realize there were so many businesses that are gone from the plaza. I think there was even a drug store at one time.
It was Read's Drugstore I believe - correct me if I'm wrong someone. I was young :)
They opened another store in the old mall as well but it went away fairly quickly.
