In Maryland and Wicomico County they use a different Math. They kept saying (piolit 5 Cents) a nickle. Where did this 24% come from.
I guess we the working force just dont understand that ther new math.

Joe...not sure what happened to everyone else by mine went from$2540 last year to $2227 this year. I am happy as heck!
Obviously many who are commenting have not paid attention and only want to bit$h now. The county was FORCED by state law to raise the property tax by 7 cents and increase the income tax rate. If they didn't then they would have to fork over 14Million Dollars to the BOE, money the county doesn't have.
So if anyone wants to get angry pay attention and call your State Representative and voice your anger at those who voted in the General Assembly for this awful state law forcing, not just Wicomico County, but all counties in MD to do this.
You are right.....nobody pays attention. My taxes have gone down by 30% over the last few years (in line with my lowered assesment) people around here don't understand simple math. Hey, look at it this way, your taxes are nearly the lowest in the state per capita. (That means per person relative to the entire amount of revenue. Worcester county has a budget of 40 million more with just over half the people as wicomico. I guess you all wont be happy until the county is reduced to 3 full time cops, roads that require trucks with lift kits to navigate, and classrooms with 90 students per room. Probably wouldn't be happy then.

What makes me mad about these taxes - you have a reduced rate for July and August however, I want the WHOLE MONTH of August not half a month. Why if they are going to give you a reduced rate don't they send out the tax bills in JUNE instead of halfway thru July then tell you the reduced rate is for July and August. Well for some of us poor folks, those two weeks that you are not giving us makes a big, big difference in trying to get this money together -try thinking next year before you send these bills out or better yet do your job right and send them out in JUNE so we can have the extra couple of weeks to get the money together. Thank You very much.
10:04, I would suggest you become involved in the process. The budget isn't passed until June. The people in the county finance department don't even know what numbers to "plug in" to the tax bills until the council votes on it. There is no way to get that information and generate tens of thousands of tax bills and have them out in June. If you people are going to cry and moan....at the very least, do some homework. 9:35, don't let the toll booth hit you in the rear.
8:16 & 8:39....I think the point thats coming across is about us being taxed to death and blowing it on anything that comes down the pipe. If it were spent correctly we wouldn't be in this position or having this discussion. You democrats are so brain-washed into pay more, pay more and can't grasp that the politicians are laughing all the way. Its common sense. They know it, most logical-open minded people know it. Wake up!
Well Mr/Ms 5:05 AM - I do know how the process works and I know when it comes to passing the budget they need to cut out the funny business, pass it early in JUNE, just like I said and get the bills out. IF, they cannot seem to do their jobs correctly, they need to give everyone August and September reduced rate and forget July.
