I'm on cable. I highly doubt you have dial-up readers because the number of image ads you have would take forever to load for them.
If your Comcast cable is unreliable, try calling them. Mine would intermittently drop out after working fine for months. I did a little research and couldn't solve the problem on my own so I called them. Turns out, the cable from the line to my house had gone bad. Maybe frayed internally or something because it had been there more than 20 years, but it was creating too much resistance for the cable modem to overcome. They put in a new line, problem solved.
I went from Comcast to DSL because of all too frequent outages. They replaced the line to the house, but stopped shory of replacing the run uo the pole. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link... So now I have the Verizon version of the "triple play" for $70/ month and really don't mind the reduction in speed. Unless you're online gaming, you really don't need Comcast.
We generally need to call Comcast 2 or 3 times a year for service; when they come it seems to help for a while then goes bad again. The line has been replaced three times in four years. Last service guy told us we have to be more careful not to destroy "his" lines cause even cracking the sheath allows to much moisture in. Turns out the cable had been nicked by the installer when turning the machine. Mr. know-it-all never did acknowledge his rotten attitude, left his trash around the yard, and didn't bother to put the cover back on the box.
A WAN is a Wide Area Network - a central ISP that connects like a giant wireless router over a larger geography.
Comcast at home and Verizon T1 line at work. Sby News loads super fast at home with Comcast but I have to take a nap for it to load at work (during lunch time of course LOL)
I use a verizon Hotspot 4 G I love it! Beats the hell out of Aol Dial up thats what I had for 8 years. That was all that was available this far out except Hughes Net but I heard alot of complaints about it.
We used to have cable internet from Mediacom but it sucked. It used to go out several times a day. Even the tv cable goes out now at least once a day not to mention other problems. We now have DSL and we have no problem with it at all. I never noticed the speed difference when we switched.

cable from comcast
Comcast cable (unreliable) here; WAN at 2nd location - fast & trustworthy.

We use a verizon air card. Cable or satellite internet is not available on our road! :-( And we live in Wicomico county! LOL
