Seaford- The Delaware State Police are searching for a Seaford man who led Troopers on a short vehicle pursuit and then fled on foot, last evening.
The incident occurred last evening at approximately 9:00 p.m. as a Delaware State Trooper on routine patrol attempted to stop a 2006 Jeep Cherokee traveling westbound on SR 20 in Seaford. A computer check of the Cherokee indicated that it was reported wanted in a Dover Police Department criminal case as a vehicle in an unauthorized use investigation. The Trooper activated his emergency equipment, and followed the vehicle as it turned onto Haven Drive, refusing to stop. The Cherokee continued traveling on Haven Drive and began to stop on the right shoulder. As the Cherokee came to a stop, the operator and passenger exited and fled on foot. Prior to exiting the Cherokee, the operator placed it into reverse gear. The unoccupied vehicle traveled in reverse, striking the Trooper’s vehicle causing moderate damage. The Trooper exited his vehicle prior to the collision and was not injured. Additional Troopers assisted by K-9’s and Delaware State Police Helicopter Trooper 2 searched the area for the occupants of the vehicle with negative results.
Through further investigation it was determined that Lemuel K. Wallop-50 of Seaford, DE was the operator of the vehicle. Troopers have obtained warrants charging Wallop with the above crimes.
If anyone has any information in reference to this incident, they are asked to contact Troop 5 at 302-337-1090 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333. Information may also be provided via the internet at www.tipsubmit.com
