Salisbury Police Can't Control The Animals At The Zoo

Salisbury Fire and Police and trying to get control of a massive party at Salisbury University and it's not going very well. They have called in the management company to remove anyone who doesn't belong at these apartments and remove them from the premisses.

and the minute the Police try to enforce laws you liberals will be on here, including Joe, complaining how the Police have overstepped their boundaries and are facist thugs.
You are never happy...either you want the Police or you don't. Make up your minds

shoot, that was an average weekend back in 05. "Ain't no party like an Old Zoo party..."

Why can't they just leave these kids alone and let them have a good time? SHEECH!

I wonder how tbe daily slimes will try to spin this yo a positive thing or if they will just totally ignore it

They were probably confused and thought it was the Pork in the Park! But it does look like a regular block party in OC after dark! LOL

I spoke to a couple Officers who said they had never seen anything like it. They were pepper spraying everyone because the kids were throwing beer bottles at the Police from long distances. One Officer said it was like watching arrows coming in from the sky.

Anonymous said...

WOW, I'm surprised the cops weren't trying to shoot the beer bottles as they were coming at them considering how trigger happy some cops are. Then the cops can blame it on them being fearful of thier lives!! haha

21 is the drinking age and underage drinking has hardly any punishment, why have the law that is ignored and don't say it's to difficult for the police to prosicute, it's illegal, I'll help do paper work for equal and fair justice.

Thanks for the information Joe. I heard about the pepper spray and thought, "That sounds excessive for a rowdy party" but the information about the bottle throwing changes things.

As a home owner in the neighborhood I can tell you it was a LONG day. I am thankful the Salisbury Police stepped in to get a grip on some of the behaviors I was witnessing. Not all but it just takes a few bad apples to spoil it. I was working in my yard and those who spoke to me were nice. One even offered to help! :)

Why won't those identified be expelled from SU? Let them answer to their parents and take out another student loan to party somewhere else?

Makes sense to me.

OH MY!
I hope they have the speed cameras working. Those poor children.

Stupid is what stupid does! Pretty much sums it all up. "War on the Shore" is a huge sports event but mostly a huge excuse for underage drinking and a party! Let's not cloud the facts, peeps. Oh yeah,it's lacrossee so that makes it ok!! NOT!!

SU has never done anything for this city stupid kooks need to go back across the bridge

Gotta love how the salisbury pd go after college kids, honestly who was this party really hurting? If only the local PD had the balls to go into the bad neighborhoods and fight real crime. I had a friend over the age of 21 being harassed by a SPD officer at WaWa one night about being drunk and when the officer was asked why he was harassing college kids instead of fighting crime on church and booth st the officer's reply was that he didn't have to worry about getting shot dealing with college kids. Sorry but as unfortunate as it is thats part of the job description.

from what I heard it all the trouble was led by locals that do not even go to school...

Incredible:

"They have called in the management company to remove anyone who doesn't belong at these apartments and remove them from the premisses."

That's why we have police, isn't it? And they could have asked Mayor Jim-beau, who is an alum, to "remove them from the premises."

Coming soon is "Zoo Two"

Wait until that huge student housing project that's just been started near Dykes Road and the tree service place is occupied by the little darlings.

LIAR

Shouldn't you be studying for your finals to make your daddy feel like he is getting his money's worth educating you instead of sending you to college to party.

Anonymous said...

The owners are Blair Rinnier and his daddy. Some of the biggest slum lords in town. Blair's Mommy in-law is on the County Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission.

The Orchards is on the table now and it is all for profit college student housing. They will be charging each student rent per room and not per apartment. These owners and developers are all out of town and out of state taking advantage of our stupid city leaders. This will not bring jobs to Salisbury. This will do nothing but line the pockets of the out of state money bags. If you are a home owner in Salisbury and Wicomico County you need to stand up now and speak your peace. Jim Ireton is not for the home owner he is for the SLUM LORDS.

My sister is a student who received the email, they all did. I'll ask her to forward it to me.(and no she did not attend the party, didn't even know about it til the email and she is a LOCAL)

The Orchards, like the Zoo and other student resident projects, are keeping more students from renting in the single family neighborhoods. Unlike the local slumlords, the firm that is building and will operate the Orchard are experienced and competent professional managers of the facilities, and will prohibit stuff that the SAPOA crown (Rinnear, Chandler, Williams, Leer, etc.) allow as a matter of course.

It will also add greatly to City property tax revenue and is making a huge donation to improve the South Division intersections, including Bateman Street, that will allow those upgrades to start soon.

11:57 AM I partially agree with your comments, but the thing that gets me is out of state and for profit. Nothing local and I doubt seriously it will add greatly to the City property tax. As a matter of fact it will be a burden on the tax payers just like University Park and University Village who are also "competent professional managers."

I am over 21 and attended war on the shore and its festivities. It seemed the new zoo was where a lot of the problems occurred because it was so visible from the road and it was the first place party-goer's went. As you went to further into the old zoo things were much more tame. Just some college kids have a good time, but that is just my opinion. For those of you interested in the email sent out by the Dean of Students here it is:

Wakey, wakey, bakey everyone (sorry, typo, wakey, wakey, wakey!)…

It’s that time of the year when I find it necessary to remind you of your responsibility as members of the SU community.

Seriously, this is not a smoke screen.

With a smorgasbord of activity (War on the Shore, Pork in the Park, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, etc., etc.) taking place over the next few weeks, it is very important that you conduct yourselves with a sense of responsibility and respect for the University, the community, to yourself, and to each other.

So what you get drunk… (Really!?!)

So what you smoke weed… (Oh, hell no!?!)

You’re just having fun, (you should care who sees)

Even when you’re living young and wild and free…

That’s not how it has to be.

So, “hide ya drink,”

“hide ya weed”

and stay focused on your educational and career needs.

If you screw up at this point, I can only offer you thoughts from one or two noble philosophers; Antoine Dodson lends these words, “You are so dumb, you are really dumb…for real!” And as the beautiful Sweet Brown once said, “Ain’t nobody got time for that!”

Finally,

I offer my sincerest congrats to each and every senior on your significant accomplishment and wish you the best as you conclude your collegiate experience, and with your job pursuit.

To all,

stay safe and please take care of yourselves and each other as we close out the year.

Hey Dumb Dumb if you have been following the thread you would have know the Zoo was owned by one of the SAPOA Slumlords you mentioned. By the way it is Rinnier not Rinnear.

Now just who do you supposed Mr. Insider 11:57 is, hmmmm?

Anonymous said...

Oh yeah, cuz we have so many officer involved shootings in Salisbury

Anonymous said...

This is one of the dumbest comments I've seen....I hope you get a better education because the one you're getting sucks. You have no friends

Anonymous said...

This party did not take place at Salisbury University. It was in the area South Division Street and Onley Road. That is not University property.

Anonymous said...

The pictures I've seen of the cops macing seem to be perfect examples of excessive force. Kids are casually walking by and getting pepper sprayed. the anonymous who wants us back across the bridge, do you realize what the students do for the local businesses? 8,000 more people buying things locally? Clearly you didn't get past the 8th grade. Salisbury cops are underpaid, therefore they won't care to go in to where they are really needed. College kids clearly care about their future, so they will show up to court and pay court fees. Crackheads probably won't

Anonymous said...

ben You nitwit you say who are they hurting by partying,Well lets see maybe some people that live near there want to live like humans not animals, and when some leave they will drive drunk duh! wake up this animal behavior is not acceptable.

Janet Dudley-Eshbach does not want anyone in the region to know the truth about the alcohol, drugs, and crime issues at Salisbury University. So she kisses up to the Daily Times and WBOC and they do not have stories about these issues. Instead the Daily Times runs her crybaby editorial about the poor budgets and all of the sacrifices that it causes SU with no salary raises for the staff and faculty (who are over paid and under worked as it is). Woohoo....she still gets her million dollar salary and free living and free utilities at the president's home.

You have to give WMDT credit, they did run a story about the out of control party at the war on the shore and police being called and the arrests that took place. WMDT ran this story in all 3 news programs last evening. I would challenge WMDT to do an investigative series about the out of control alcohol and illegal drugs that are rampant at SU!

Its a shame it got out of control but thats what happens at college sometimes.

Given the way the SU 'campus' is laid out, you have students living right in the middle of a town, intermingled with residents.

I certainly would prefer to see the local law enforcement devote 'shock and awe' resources to keep the gangs and crack dealers locked up.

Anonymous said...

Can you imagine hiring these thugs? This is probably typical of all colleges. It's pure genious to aquire college loans and then raise hell for the next 4+ years. And then wonder why on earth no one wants to hire them.Duh.5 or 10 years in the fast food industry or tending bar just might wake them up.

While I live 2 streets from The Zoo and the coming Orchards project will no doubt affect me and my family directly I am not going there right now. This supposed email from the president of SU is frightening if it can be believed. It looks to me like it was written by a middle school student, and I do not mean to insult middle school students here either!!!

Anonymous said...

that email is not real i hope...thats more nuts than what happened

Anonymous said...

What do student loans have anything to do with this party? AS long as the students are attending class and doing their work then the schooling shouldn't be an issue. Sounds like a few may be jealous they couldn't afford the student loans to go to school.

Anonymous said...

What they do for local business? That does NOT give them the right to destroy and cause havoc no matter where they go. The City owes those spoiled whiny brats nothing. And if there were bottles thrown around then so be it... spray them, clear them out and let them go whine and cry to mommy an daddy. Nice work SPD and WCSO! It's just too bad you officers couldn't be in the drug dealers and gun toting gangbangers faces. Instead you had to deal with the immature drunk college KIDS. They only have embarrassed themselves once agin by their behavior.

Anonymous said...

Joe, perfect title by the way. Tell it like it is.

Anonymous said...

@10:42 you know you just made a great argument against what you said. "Too bad you couldn't be in the drug dealing gun toatera faces". Yea right, cops busting real criminals who are bringing REAL crime to this area. That is a joke. I would love to see them pepper spray a bunch of drug dealers, please direct me to the last video or picture of that happening. No, but oh man those rowdy college kids sure are creating a huge problem in this crime infested poop hole of a town. Lol get a grip if this makes you happy you are in for quite a ride Salisbury.

Anonymous said...

And @ 4:50 you must have not attended school. If you do think this is bad then you should get out more often. I attended schoolin VA for a few years and saw every drug under the sun.

Anonymous said...

If you watch some of the videos online you'll see the "super troopers" Tom Mcmenemy and Troy Underwood two cops consistently in the conversations about excessive force by police officers cursing at students and showing off that their pepper spray can is empty.
