WASHINGTON - The District led the way. Maryland almost followed suit.
Hearing officers control the fate of people in D.C. when it comes to almost all traffic cases, including red light and speed camera tickets.
Tiffany Alston, a Prince George's delegate to the General Assembly, sponsored a bill calling for special masters in Maryland to judge non-jailable traffic offenses.
"Right now in the state, we have a deficit in judges," she said.

Maryland has already seen what its like to have special hearing officers that are not judges.they are called commisioners.they are useless and have no idea what law is .simple civilians that abuse their power and god forbid they know you and don't like you.

Am I getting close?
Don't assume that judges know the law either, 8:35.

What?
A NEW court system, complete with its own administration, clerks, judges, letterhead, offices, and God knows what else, staffed by retired cops and other government retirees to do the same thing that the District Court judges do now - find you guilty. For which we will be forced to pay a new premium when we register cars, buys tags, etc for the "special fund" needed to pay for this new "special court". What dumb-ass keeps coming up with these ideas to "save" money and "time"??? It does neither, but DOES costs us "we, the people" even MORE fees, fines, surcharges, and taxes. BRILLIANT!!!
