STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR MARTIN O’MALLEY ON THE PASSAGE OF THE CIVIL MARRIAGE PROTECTION ACT IN THE SENATE

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Martin O’Malley released the following statement after the Senate passed the Civil Marriage Protection Act of 2012:

“I’d like to thank Senate President Miller for his leadership and our legislators in the Senate for their hard work and their vote today for human dignity.

“All children deserve the opportunity to live in a loving, caring, committed, and stable home, protected equally under the law. The common thread running through our efforts together in Maryland is the thread of human dignity; the dignity of work, the dignity of faith, the dignity of family, the dignity of every individual.

“Thanks to our elected leaders, clergy and faith-based leaders, community leaders, civic organizations, civil rights groups, and citizens from across our State, Maryland will now be able to protect individual civil marriage rights and religious freedom equally.”

i keep telling you O'Malley you infidel. That this has nothing to do with religious freedom eqaulity. You can't put this and religion together. The Bible says it is an abomination and the participants should be stoned to death. He also destroyed the whole cities of Sodom and Gormorrah for the sin of homosexuality. So this passage has nothing to do with religion.

Isn't this the same disgusting letter he sent to Michael Busch and the House?

Stupid Pig!! I hope he is ran out of the Catholic Church.

I bet a lot of married men will divorce now and hook up with their gay lovers. Yes Marty, you to!

Really, 6:11 it has everything to do with religion. Think about it, if your religion didn't say that it was a sin, or an abomination then we wouldn't even be having this discussion. All this is, is using the bible to justify bigotry, and it needs to stop.

On your other note about stoning to death if we really want to get into that we can do what the Taliban did and have a government based on the laws in the bible. But no cherry picking them, if you work on a Sunday you get stoned, if you wear a garment made of 2 different fabrics you get stoned, if you plant 2 different crops side by side in the same field you get stoned, oh and that would mean that the NFL would have to go as well since they would all have to be stoned for touching the skin of a dead pig.

O'Malley is suppose to be a devout Catholic. Any American worth their salt knows that the Catholic faith doesn't condone gay marrages. Even Senate President Mike Miller voted against same sex marriage.

O'Malley is a wolf dressed in Sheep's clothing. Now everyone ought to be able to see his true colors.

For Senate President Mike Miller - I tip my hat to you for at least standing up to a higher moral standard. As for O'Malley - he can kiss my A$$.

My understand is that there is a referendum movement underway. We need to find out more about it and support it.

Don't get me wrong - I think non-traditional couples should have the same rights and priveleges - even though I don't personally condone this activity.....but do it without calling it marriage - I am a participant in that institution and don't want it reduced to something no longer supported by the church!

6:11 am...the infidel comment was a nice touch...way to shine you crazy diamond...the passage of this bill isn't opening the door for drag queens to openly grope each other at your local walmart for crying out loud.....by the way, i've seen way more detestable hetero couples doing the same thing in public so stop it with your prudey morality stuff. the bill is so adults who love each other can have legal rights to grow old together and build a future together for their families....i know more people who have been scarred for life by their hetero parents than by their homo parents...and i don't think anyone is asking you to wave a rainbow flag here.....i realize acceptance is out of the question for you and many people like you and you are certainly entitled to your opinion...but there were people who thought slaves and segregated bathrooms were cool too and didn't want to see that changed..but it didn't make their view right.....but how about another bible verse...."love thy neighbor as thy self?"

just turn your head and mind your business....and worry about actual infidels and drowning in the constant stream of hate filled propaganda rhetoric and reality shows about everything from pawn shops to porn stars.

and as far as quoting Leviticus, you know the passage in the old testament that calls homosexuality an abomination....point taken..however, if you read a little further...the word abomination is used to condemn a few other things....such as eating fowl, pork, lobsters, and even calls the precious eagle...wait for it.....an ceremonially unclean animal...*GASP*

also, if you followed the bible verbatim as this one author did in a book released a few years ago that i can't recall the title....(premise...he did what the bible told him to do, verbatim...for a year)

he grew a beard that rivaled any muslim terrorist (cause grooming is not necessary encouraged in the bible) and had to walk around dressed like members of the polyphonic spree because you "can't wear garments woven of two kinds of material" and he says farmers are screwed...and even recreational gardeners for that matter, who have gone against god's decree and planted their field with two different types of seed"

so, in closing, and i would like to mention that i am a christian and that the good lord and i have a very good relationship, but i believe the bible is there to be our guide and the point is to have a personal relationship with the lord...not point a finger and damn anyone who doesn't....and using a verse in the old testament to guise your hatred for a love between two people you obviously don't understand or refuse to allow to exist....is a crazy atrocity on humanity...all religious dogma aside.
it just makes you sound like a bit of a knob.

Okay-When is he going to start talking about the important issues? He's diverted the public's attention away from his failed goverorship long enough.
He has been a complete failure and needs to take a good look at what real leaders do such as Gov Chris Christie in NJ.

Right on 8:03 - With all the issues MD is facing, this is what our elected officials are spending their time working on??

WooHoo! Atleast now his kids got one accomplishment they can write on his tombstone and in his obituary.

7:58 If you were a Christian (which I question due to your name calling...didnt you quote "love thy neighbor"?) then you know that the Bible is The Word of God. You can't change it to fit your whims. You quoted Leviticus saying that homeosexuality is an abomination. What part of that don't you get? So what if he calls pork an abomination. He still says homosexuality is an abomination. You cant change that.

enjoy your pork sandwich then today 8:33 and know that you are displeasing god.
you proved my point.
you can't pick the dogma you choose to follow.
so what if he calls pork an abomination you say....well, so what that he calls homosexuality an abomination...it's no different.
the thing about christians is that we, and i say we here, live in our glass houses and we forget the sinful things we do and we think that once we've repented or gone to church enough weeks in a row that we have the right to judge other people's shortcomings, choices, etc.......have you looked at porn in your life...have you cursed, have you looked at another man's husband or wife and thought, wow, she/he is really beautiful....have you ever stood in line at the DMV and thought, i am going to literally strangle someone if i have to wait one more minute.....you know you have...because you are sinful human, and i'm sure you have been forgiven.

leave the same sex folks alone and let them love who they want to love....i mean, all these people who have been denouncing the gay lifestyle have been secretly condoning it for decades.

if you've ever seen a play, or watched a hollywood film, worn a piece of clothing, bought a new pair of shoes....and this could be my favorite analogy....if you've ever been at a wedding and done the hand motions for the "YMCA"...you are supporting not only gay culture...but the very deplorable acts you are so afraid of.....because the YMCA's the village people sing of.....are actually talking about the secret meetings for gay men to have romantic trysts....making ymca's the essential public bathhouses of the 1970's.

maybe you should stick to the electric slide or the macarena.

9:05 You have made clear your opinions on homosexuality from a Christian viewpoint. What are your views on polygamy and pedophilia based on your belief the Bible?

Anonymous said...

Keep throwing out polygamy and pedophlia to confuse an issue because you have no real facts.

Anonymous said...

10:20 Yeah, I knew you wouldnt be able to answer that question. Here is the fact and you said it yourself...God says that homosexual acts are an abomination and detestable. You can't change bible teachings.

Anonymous said...

And his point 10:58, is that hes not the one trying to change them, the bible says that its alright to have multiple wives. Not to mention that women have to marry their rapists, and that we can own slaves so long as they don't come from our own country.

What hes trying to get at is that if you expect us to take homosexuality from a biblical point of view as an abomination, then everything that the bible prohibits or allows should be on the table too.

Anonymous said...

10:58,
please see the posts at 7:58 and 9:05 in reference to your abomination comments.

thanks and god bless.

and as a general rule.

don't mess with kids....

one relationship is hard enough to keep healthy...let alone many.

i kind of find polygamy much like having dozens of children like the duggars...

sure, you could do it...but i can't imagine that's a good idea or the right thing to do for anyone.

Love how non tax paying churchs want to tell the state government how to treat tax paying gay people.

Anonymous said...

11:08 Yes I get what he is trying to say and what I am trying to say is where does it stop? If according to him gay marriage should be a law(even though he said it was an abomination) then so should polygamy.

Maybe if I decide I want a new car I should steal it because I don't feel like paying. In the Old Testament it says stealing is wrong...should I just decide I don't like that rule and ignore it?

11:16 Like I said these are your OPINIONS. From a Christian perspective you cannot support something that God says is WRONG.

Anonymous said...

Well here in lies the question then 12:06 do you support the things that the bible says are okay? Like slavery and stoning people for working on a Sunday?

If its Gods word and the bible is 100% accurate, but you don't support all the things that the bible says are acceptable, then where does that leave you, does that mean you have a better moral compass than God?

I'm looking forward to a referendum on this one. This is not an issue to be pushed on us because of the ambitions of a politician.I feel that this was shoved down our throats and it is about time to vomit.
