Government Cuts Off Funding For New Chimp Research

Rest assured that the government is determined to prevent the events from Rise of the Planet of the Apes from unfolding. Kidding aside, the government aims to ensure humane treatment of chimpanzees. The National Institutes of Health announced that they won't give out new grants for biomedical and behavioral research on chimps because they deserve "special consideration and respect." The organization acted on a recommendation from the Institute of Medicine that concluded most chimp research is unnecessary.

These animals have been & still are treated inhumanely! Experiments should only be allowed on an individual chimp for few years. They should then release the chimp back in the wild or to a rescue, replacing them with another to do necessary research on. Some have been held captive for experiments for over 20 yrs. It is totally inhumane ---- as they feel pain the sames as we.

It is heartbreaking to watch an "undercover video presentation" of the reaction of the chimps that have been "butchered, & tormented " for years on end.

I hope & pray we , as sane human beings will have the intellignece to stop what is completely unnecessary & down righ cruel!
