Georgetown — Only one person testified during a public hearing on Sussex County’s proposed redistricting plan.
The Oct. 25 hearing was the next to last step as county officials comply with law requiring the process take place every 10 years following the release of U.S. Census data. Council will vote on the plan in ordinance form at a future meeting.
Based on an increase in population over the decade to more than 197,000, each of the five council districts must have about 39,000 residents, with no more than 41,000 residents and no fewer than 37,000 residents. Two of the five districts deviated outside the limits.
