A Comment Worthy Of A Post 11-15-11
"Speaking of cuts Joe, Mardela Middle and High school students were sent home with a letter to parents just yesterday explaining how the WCBOE is looking into closing their school. There is a budget meeting tonight at Parkside and the discussion on the school is to follow. Would really like for you to look into this. As I don't have a child in that school yet I will in the next few years. I myself work nights so I cannot attend this meeting, please help us get the whole story!"

Please attend Joe and get the information out. Thank You
You people are funny. Why don't YOU attend and drop Joe an email telling him what went on at the meeting. Be proactive, not reactive. Joe can't be everywhere!
That BOE budget meeting is WEDNESDAY night 11/16/2011 at Parkside at 6:30...NOT tonight.
I'm a parent at MMHS and have not seen such a letter. Mardela Middle & High School is hosting a forum on Dec 19, 2011 during the general PTA meeting and are encouraging ALL Mardela parents and Mardela community members to attend. A few BOE members and Wico Cty Council members will be there to answer any questions.
The BOE wants the parents riled up so they'll beg for more funding. The four day week will save very little. The big money is in salaries and unless employees are paid for only 4 days the savings will be little.
12:33 i am a parent of MMHS and yes i got a letter from both schools so you better check with your child. We need to fight this we can not afford for the schools to close! The board is already complaining bennett and Wi Hi are over crowded! They should have built a high school in Willards when the land was donated to do so!
The public should question any information about positions eliminated at the central office. They've simply made up new titles and listed the old titles as positions they've cut. The kids deserve better.
This post is totally false. A letter did go home but it was the same letter that went home with all Wicomico County children about the budget meeting tomorrow night. It said that one proposal could be to close A school, not specifically Mardela.
This is just another show of false reporting to get people fired up.

What land was donated in Willards?
How are any of you surprised that this is happening? In the past five years the board of education trying to push out its veteran teachers by offering retirement bonuses. Looks good in theory, you pay new teachers less, they're less experienced, and don't share nowhere near the knowledge of someone that has been in the education for twenty years. There also have been talks about cutting extracurricular activities, four day weeks, and hour changes. I'm not surprised to hear that the county would consider closing a school. Funds cut across the board and those in power don't know where to turn to get it and unless it's their future grandchildren, don't give a sh*t. Best part, you paid for it, NCLB.
