Pew report examines attitudes on conflicts, terrorism and burdens and rewards of military
One in three U.S. veterans of the post-9/11 military believes the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were not worth fighting, and a majority think that after 10 years of combat America should be focusing less on foreign affairs and more on its own problems, according to an opinion survey released Wednesday.
The findings highlight a dilemma for the Obama administration and Congress as they struggle to shrink the government's huge budget deficits and reconsider defense priorities while trying to keep public support for remaining involved in Iraq and Afghanistan for the longer term.

I'm not trying to over simplify this situation, but is'nt it possible to just leave? So much damage was done this year by floods, tornado's,hurricanes etc that needs addressing. If given a choice between restoring the disaster stricken areas in the US or remaining in Iraq or Afghanastan,I'm confident that our troops would choose to return home.
Of course they were worth it. Look at all of the money that has flowed into Wall Street investments because of CIA control of those poppies. Look at the huge profits being made by the Carlyle Group, Halibuton, and the Blackhawk Security Company.
Most people don't understand the reasons for wars. Therefore they don't realize how much money is made by those who start the wars and finance the political players who start the wars. War is America's greatest industry. If it weren't for the wars think about all of the soldiers who wouldn't get the assistance with college education etc. There are a lot of career soldiers who's families depend on the money generated by these wars.
Most people know about how the 2nd World War pulled America out of the depression caused by the Federal Reserve's restraint on money velocity. Well here you have another example. The Federal Reserve has once again pulled back the money velocity (2008) and caused another down trend in the business cycle and these current wars are going to be the only thing that pulls us out of it.
People need to think about the bigger picture sometimes. If the richest people on the planet need a stimulus for their investments in armaments, then there will be a war. War is ALWAYS profitable for the rich. Always. And it gives jobs to the poor working class who do not always understand wars. That's why they make flags after all. To help the dumb poor working class people get behind the wars. That's also why they make Country Music Stars rich. They help the little people get behind the most profitable enterprise on the planet.
ya know, that means 2 in 3 thought it was worth it.
I waive my flag and I pledge allegiance to the United States of America. Im not a dumb little person. Im not a poor working class person either. Im a loyal patriotic American. And if my country needs me to kill some of those idiots with IEDs then here I am ready and willing to go.
I dont do it for the rich people either. I do it for my country.
10:47. Sadly, you have been convinced. Read Eishenhower's parting speech as he left the Presidency. Remember- he was a general AND a politician. AND he warned Americans about the growth, DOMINATION, and THREAT of the "military-industrial complex". Think HE had an idea about what he was talking about? He knew that they grew rich on war, but also knew that they need to convince us there was an "enemy". You have fallen hook, line, and sinker for the "USA! USA! USA!" mind control. I love my country, too. The Star Spangled Banner can still make tears come to my eyes. Served (and Honorably Discharged) during the Vietnam era (though I never got a chance to go there). I just don't like the trend we are on....total disregard for, and absolute disintegration (by purposeful design) of the GREAT principles upon which this unique nation was founded. That process has been greatly aided by the brainwashed masses who BELIEVE these people in power want what's good for YOU (really!?) and need to be told what to think and how to behave. THAT'S NOT what our founding fathers imagined we would become....And that 1/3 figure? It would have been much higher had we had a chance to ask the dead...
